HP Officejet J5750 can't scan, fax from PC and no HP devices detected error

Hello,

I have a new notebook with Vista OS. I can print to the printer and scan from paint but I cannot

  1. fax from my pc via the printer (no fax installed?)
  2. open HP digital imaging monitor (no HP devices detected error)
  3. open HP solution center (no HP devices detected error)
  4. scan to my pc other than thru paint (no scan options error)
I am connected via USB

I have uninstalled to level 4 and reinstalled (several times, both with disk drivers/software as well as HP online drivers/software) following directions perfectly. I have spoken with sever of the HP help people including elevated assistance. Nothing works. The fax on the printer works fine independently. Can anyone please help me?

Thank you!

This issue is common with every HP scanning software used with Windows OS which have a firewall running.

If you would try the following:

- check the task bar if HP digital imaging monitor is up and running
- if not, go to C:\program files\hp\digital imaging\bin and double click the file HPQTRA08.EXE
- now the monitor should run
- if not, pls reinstall the software (*)
- if yes, pls try to open HP solution center

- if solution center starts, pls try to scan or to fax
- if successful, no other steps are required

- if faxing is not successful, check in the printer folder, if you find a HP <device name> series fax entry
- if you cannot find it, unplug the printer and delete the entries in both the printer folder and scanner folder
- also run the software CD and start the uninstall_l1.bat and uninstall_l2.bat in the util\CCC on the CD (if 64 bit OS, the run the 64 bit versions)
- restart the PC with the loaded CD
- replug the printer and let it be reinstalled

(*) For a clean reinstall it is recommended to contact HP support. They know the best way to leave a clean system on the PC.

Hope it helps.

Manually unzip the files and right click the setup.exe nd select "Run as Administrator" Vista and 7 are notorious for requiring this even if you are the administrator account.

MY HP WIRELESS OFFICE JET MODEL #J6480 ALL IN ONE PRINTER WILL NOT SCAN. ATTEMPTING TO DO SO RESULTS IN A POP-UP WINDOW WHICH READS "NO HP DEVICES HAVE BEEN DETECTED>" I HAVE ANHP TOUCH SMART PC RUNNING...

Here is one simple thing to try (not guaranteed but it fixes the problem sometimes):
  • Turn off your OfficeJet
  • Shutdown your PC
  • Turn on your OfficeJet
  • Turn on your PC
  • Try scanning
The reason this this works some of the time is that the software has an incorrect IP address for the OfficeJet.

You might also need to configure your firewall to allow scanning. Try the above first and see if it helps.

If this does not fix the problem, as a temporary work around, there is a way to scan using the web browser on your PC (e.g., Internet Explorer) and type in the IP address of your OfficeJet, which you can get from the front panel of the OfficeJet. You will see an option to scan.

Missing printed lines form HP Officejet J5750 All in One printer

The cartridges may need to be cleaned by the printer. Check for this option on your user's manual, they will usually refer to it as a nozzle check/clean.
If the cartridge is clogged and does not unclog replace the ink cartridge. Contrary to what people might think these cartridges have a shell life and can be faulty out of the box.
