You Probably have a bad flyback transformer(The HI VOLTAGE) and a defective horizontal output transistor. I you have training in the tv repair , then you can go to http://www.partstore.com and getthese parts. they arte soldered in so your gonna have to know how to solder and unsolder as well. You should also know all the safety issues regarding the HI voltage in these sets. If you dont I highly advise that you take this set to a pro for repair as theres hi voltage inside these sets even when they are unplugged. Good Luck

Did you expect me to show you how to fix it?? lol Ok tell me what you want or need. To show you how to fix the set is a dangerous thing. Without the proper training.

Tv wont turn on no lite sound anything never heard a pop or anything tried the reset nothing worked fine the nite befor

As the set is in dead condition, you have to start troubleshoot from its main power supply regulator itself. To do this, you must have some knowledge in electronics, and the working principle of the Tv. Troubleshooting to this kind of fault is an art, I should say, as set is in dead condition. Normally, power supply stage troubleshooting is very dangerous one to who doesn't know the high voltage points. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. Troubleshooting charts to many brand TVs are given. See it, and determine whether you can follow it. Wish you success. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com

While watching tv we heard a pop and the receiver stopped working. Power button does nothing. We've opened it up but can't see anything that looks burnt or fried...

It could be a relay that burnt out, they usually dont show any signs of damage, or the motherboard could be fried too with no signs of damage eather! Hope this helps!

Heard a pop when I turned on tv and now nothing

don't leave it on and have it looked at---most likely is if it uses a lamp that may be the problem but if not it may be in the power supply.

Heard a pop then screen went blank. Now TV wont turn on.

Sounds like your fuse.

If not the fuse in your plug, then the internal fuse in the TV. to get too this you need to open the TV by taking off the back plastic panel and look at the fuse.

the fuse is the glass tube on the board, will no doubt be near where the power cord connects to the TV. and are easy to replace with another fuse. you will know soon as you open it if its blown as the little glass tube will be blackened or the little wire inside the tube will be missing or severed.

Fuses in TVs are actually designed to blow over time with ware (usually to last a bit longer then the warranty time frame) so after the cover has ended the TV can go in for repair work at extra cost. Its a little known fact.

No Power Problem with KV-27s15 Sony TV

Barry, remove the back cover by removing the screws with an arrow next to them. The fuse is located on the left side as viewed from the back, where the power cord connects to the circuit board.

Sony kv27s15 just went dead, how to fix it?

We just experienced the same thing. My daughter was watching TV and it went dead. We could not get it to turn back on. I'm guessing that this model Sony TV had a 13 year life expectancy. I offered it to a local technician who refurbs and sells TVs, and he wasn't interested. He said he doesn't mess with anything over 10 years old because it's too hard to sell. We just went ahead and bought a new LCD HDTV. It's a shame though. If someone were able to fix the old TV, I'm sure a nursing home or non-profit facility could use it. Our only other option is to pay $15 to have it recycled.
