Question about Toshiba MD20FP3 Combo

Toshiba MD20FP3 Combo does not turn on. Help!

My Toshiba MD20FP3 TV/DVD combo decided not to turn on one day. I can turn in on via remote or power button, but I will get 1 to 3 seconds of picture and sound. Then the screen turns black... no sound or picture and the red LED light remains on. I notice that the TV is actually ON when the LED light is on and I can turn it off with the remote, but the screen is black with no audio. Nothing is connected to the TV except a GE antena. It has been over 2 years since I purchased the TV so no warrenty. Purchase price $280. Wondering what it might cost me to repair it. Is it something I can do myself? Thanks in advance.

Re: Toshiba MD20FP3 Combo does not turn on. Help!

Not unless you have taken the time to learn all the safety issues concerning the HI voltage safety facts, in the repair of electronics? It sounds like your tv has a problem in the sweep/power supply circuits, and since these sets have NO user serviceable parts< its best too leave these types of repairs to a certified electronic technician. Good Luck

Cant Power up/down. DVD player wont work

You can try leaving the television unpluged for a couple of days and see if letting the circuits completely discharge will let the television reset itself to normal operation. You can also call Toshiba customer support and ask them if this problem is common and if there is a simple solution. The customer service telephone number is 1-800-631-3811. Give them the model number of your television and they will help you. I hope this information help you with your problem.

Toshiba 13' tv dvd combo, Fios remote control need code

Here are the codes: take a deep breath:

0181, 1283, 0183, 1292, 0087, 0677, 0859, 0872, 1183, 1383, 1683, 1731

You may find that these don't work. Often, with combination pieces like yours, you will find you are lucky if you can get a universal remote to turn it on and change the volume and little more. The fact that Toshiba did not build this peice can compound the problem. My suggestion, if you can't get the universal to program up, is to use the original remote for the set. If you do not have the original remote it is available from for around $15.00 plus shipping. The original part number for the Toshiba remote is 72796929.

Good luck!

Toshiba MD20FP3 not turning on

Is a good thing the main fuse is not open, your problem is in the power supply ,as I understand you have no indication of power(no lights,No clicks)The 5 volts that power the microprocessor might be missing, this 5 volts usually come from a regulator, this regulator should have 12 volts in one side and the 5 volts in the other, the 12 volts come from the secondary of a transformer and it has its own fusible resistor,if the resistor is open is because the regulator is shorted and it need to be replaced. This is a good place to check.Be careful when checking this parts. If you are not too familiar with tv service seek the assistance of a servicer,it should not be too expensive.
