Question about Philips Televison & Video
I have a mid-90's Magnavox "Total Remote Control" console TV. Model RX4814-HP01 and chassis 25N1-01. Have original remote, no manual. Connects directly thru coax, no VCR/DVD /Audio auxillaries.
Is there an autoprogram function on this set? I can access the channel menu but only two options appear: add channel+ or delete channel-.
I can't imagine I'd have to program each channel manually?
Set is on Cable Tuning, not antenna and i have tried unplugging the TV overnight to let it "reset" itself, no luck.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

The only way your going to change the video mode is with the original remote. If you need another remote go to http://remotes.com or call 1800 remotes Theres a button on the upper left hand side of the remote called video mode. A universal most of the time will not work this function. You could ask around to your friends and buddies or relitives if anyone has a working Sanyo remote or go to a local retailer that sells Sanyo and see if he would let you borrow one for a little while so you can switch out of the video mode. Good Luck

SOURCE: sony wega 27 inch
I posted originally about a year and a half ago about this very same problem. It is a known defect with the WEGAs that Sony refuses to do anything about. Here's the thread with my experience - the upshot is, try doing a "hard reboot" by unplugging it and leaving it unplugged overnight. That worked for me for about 18 months, but no longer...I'm replacing my 5 year old WEGA today (NOT with a Sony).

SOURCE: doesn't get all cable channels
With the menu set to cable signals, the autoprogram should catch all of the cable channels. The Cable Channel option allows you to use either channel 3 or 4 as the "cable" channel. This is when you have an external box that you use to tune in cable rather than the TV directly. The easiest way here is to autoprogram the TV while playing a VCR tape. That will insure that channel 3 is included.
Does the autoprogram fail?
