Well my computer was doing the same thing, I could hardly even sign in (using tab i could but couldn't see what I was writing, then when I logged in I ended up seeing all black all over the place in the menus
I'm not sure why it did that, but I uninstalled it and installed an older version of windows live messenger 2011 from here:
When you are logged in ,your friend will 1st send you the request to view this video through his webcam.you just need to accept and rest will be automatically done.If its not done automatically, then i would like to know which version of messenger and windows operating system you are using, then only would be able to come to any conclusion of the problem.
1)log in using your account name and password. You'll need to create an account if you haven't done so already2)Click the 'Messenger' followed by the 'Start My Webcam' option. This will load your webcam, and is among the ways you can get your webcam to begin broadcasting. 3)Click on the camera icon that appears in a chat window while you are talking to a friend. 4)Click on a contact from your Contact List, then click 'Invite to View My Webcam.' This opens a new IM window with your webcam active 5)Click the 'View Webcam' link while talking to others in IM. This will allow you to see their webcams. 6)Use the 'Super Webcam' mode when you want to send and receive high-quality images and feeds. Broadband makes it possible to see one another in very high resolution, although even with high-end broadband your computer may slow down a bit because of the amount of memory and processing power this requires.7)Click 'Webcam' followed by the 'Who's Watching Me' button to see which of your friends is receiving your webcam's feed.
Click Start from the taskbar in the lower-left corner of your computer screen.
Open the Run window and type d:\setup in the text area. Note: The "d" indicates the
path to your CD-ROM drive. If your CD-ROM drive is located in a
different path, you need to replace the "d" with the correct path.
If you've downloaded the most recent software driver from the webcam manufacturer's website, run that installation program now. Note: Most webcam
manufacturers maintain the latest webcam software drivers on the
download or support areas of their website. Just download it and save
it to your computer.
Follow the instructions provided by the webcam setup program. Note: Plug in your webcam USB cord only when prompted. (This is usually done after rebooting your computer.)
At the starting to set-up a webcam first, make sure your webcam driver is installed. Then plug-in your webcam and sign in to Yahoo! Messenger. If your webcam is not showing or shows a black screen instead, you need to check the "Camera Source" settings in Yahoo! Messenger. You have to follow the steps describing below:
You have to click on the "Messenger" menu then in Messenger select the "My Webcam" menu.
click on the "File" menu in the "My Webcam" window and then click on the "Preferences" menu.
Just click on the "Camera Source" button.
Select your webcam device from the drop-down menu.
Click the "OK" button to close Preferences window of Yahoo! Messenger.
After following all the steps if you still face the problem you have to check the connection settings. You can do that with following the steps below:
click on the "Messenger" menu in the main Yahoo! Messenger Window.
select the "Preferences" menu.
select "Connection" under "Category".
You have to ensure one of the following is selected for connectivity "No Proxies", "No network detection".
