KAHLES BINOCULAR TWIST OUT EYECUPS

The right eyecup became stuck and when trying to untwist broke head off of the two screws that it twist on. Kahles says that they will fix if send to Austria, but need for season in two weeks. Does this unscrew and can be replaced by new unit or does the brken screws new to be removed and replaced with new. IF so do you know where this can be fixed.

I have the same problem this evening while out scouting. one of the screws came cleanly out, the other is still in the hole a little. I'm going to try to get it out. Kahles said to send them in but I'm leaving for my hunting trip in 4 days.

once the holes are cleared I'm going to try to find something that will screw in, maybe a short piece of round toothpick. just something to hold the eye cups and keep them from falling off while I'm hiking.

SOURCE: Nikon Replacement Eyecups

What an excellent glass you have. Nikon in your country should have a service center. I have had them get me a replacement set for a 7x50IF SP WP which is not a common model. They emailed me an order form and I emailed it back. They were not in stock so it takes about 6 to 8 weeks. May I suggest you order a back up set when you do.
If they aren't too helpful (they needed a shove) try Binoculars.com or Adorama Camera in new York. They will also ship internationally.

You'll need to measure your eyepiece in "mm". Also determine if your eyepiece has an outer ring the eyepiece will slip over. You can find eyecups/guards on Ebay. Search under Binocular Eyecup or Binocular Eye Guard. There are also eyecups under "rubber eyecups/rubber eyeguards" but alot of these are for Microscopes and may not fit. You will need to pay close attention to the mounting type and measurements.

Wearing glasses with my binoculars

There are no adaptors for this problem.

The Kestrel should have rubber eyecups. They are fairly thick and stiff but these need to be folded over to be used with glasses.

If that isn't working for you you could try this. Some who wear glasses remove the eyecups. The rubber unscrews. The eyecup is then replaced with the rubber from a bicycle inner tube. Stetch the inner tube over where the eyecups were sitting. This can be cut and folded to the right height to allow viewing with your glasses.

Just removing the eyecup and using glasses may result in you scratching your glasses on the metal eyepiece.

Eyecups are sticking on my Swift ultra light binoculars

The rubber outer ring of the eyecups can be peeled off of the metal ring underneath. This exposes the three tiny screws and their channels that allow the eyecups to move in and out. Clean any debris out of the channels, tighten or replace the screws if necessary, and fit the rubber covers back onto the rings.
