We installed this oven ourselves and never had it calibrated. Now all of our stainless steel pots and pans have turned black from the flames on the cooktop and anything that goes into the oven also comes out black (the dishes - not the food!). Is there anything we can do to solve this problem?

The burners are designed to cycle on and off, it is technology that helps to keep from burning food. If you are using the correct pan to burner size ratio and high setting on your burner, the water should boil in the normal time. Don't watch the pot (just kidding)
We Use Debruce Polish on all our cooktops. Debruce also works on
stainless steel and polished granite, marble, porcelain, formica and
glass. DeBruce is non-toxic odor-less and eco-friendly. You can get
DeBruce on line at debrucepolish.com.
use scotch brite #7447 get at automotive stores and blend scratches with the grain. If they still exist use 180 to 240 grit sandpaper and again finish with the 7447
In order to avoid damage to the surface, my favorite is petrol (gasoline) to melt the muck and then a standard non abrasive detergent cleaner to get rid of the smell of petrol. Alternatively, you can try a proprietary oven cleaner (one that doesnt need the oven to be hot)
We tested the EOC and it will indeed need a replacement. Also, just a couple weeks prior we ran the "clean" mode on the oven as did another poster who experienced the "pop" and loss of the control board/oven function, but still had stove top function.
are yours and hers both freestanding? (do they both have a drawer at the bottom?) if so measure the width to see if hers will fit. if so, turn off the circuit breaker to your stove. remove the drawer of your stove. do you see the plug? unplug it. now just slide it out toward you being careful not to damage the floor. installation opposite of removal.
Hope this helps
