Question about CD Players

1 Answer

Philips micro system MCM390/37, when turned ON, try to read CD then TAPE and gets back to ECO-MODE

Cannot read any of the components, CD, TAPE or TUNER. When turned on, indicates CD READING, but the CD is not turning. After 10 seconds, it tries to read TAPE, but the TAPE does not turn. Then after 5 second the screen shows nothing but blue light and it turns off in ECO-MODE.

It seems like the command between the control panel and the different sources is not working.

I am not an electronic technician but i'm trying to find the cause of that problem... maybe it's simpler than I think.

Have a nice day.

Same to my system, MCM390/22. Cannot read any of the components, CD, TAPE or TUNER. When turned on,
indicates CD READING, but the CD is not turning. After 5 seconds, it
tries to read TAPE, but the TAPE does not turn. Then after 5 second the
screen shows nothing but blue light and it turns off in ECO-MODE. In adding, I can not shut off the system, unless i pull out the cable from power source.

My MCM390 is doing the same thing. It won't even attempt to read a CD, then it goes into tape mode, then it shuts off into "ECO-POWER" after a few seconds. It also will not play any radio stations in "TUNER" mode. I called Philips Technical Support and they told me to unplug the unit for a minute and then plug it back in, and if that didn't fix it then I would need to take the unit to a service center. I asked the CSR where my nearest service center was located and her response was, "You have to find one yourself." I think I'll be heading to the store this afternoon to buy a Sony to replace this Philips piece of junk.

How about Philips fire all those technicians and engineers who earn 6 figures salary and import those Chinese workers for $2/hour, they do better job.

Hi. My Philips CD Recorder CDR 785 stops and turn off when i try to recorder from spotify.

The Unit turns itself off automatically after a few (variable) time when simply reading a CD and also when burning, then after 1 or 2 seconds it turns on and goes automatically in stand by mode. Any solution? Thanks.

What does the display read when this happens, I have experience with these, does it say disc recover? also when the laser reader gets old, it may be done, unless you can maybe find someone with replacement. Old or scratched cds won't read well, or skip also.

Cant eject cd, no sound

HI, you have a damaged IC chip on the main board that is not allowing proper sound distribution at this time and, the load motor on the CD assembly is also damaged. this is the reason for the trapped CD that wont eject.

Unfortunately, Micro dose all of its repairs in house and you will have to send this unit to the Micro techs for this repair.

I have two different music systems, need answers for if possible,

On the no disc messages, try a cd or dvd lens cleaner which ever is appropriate for the device and also try blowing canned air inside, it can be a dirty lens.

You power off then power back on while holding down the fast forward and rewind buttons on the recording side simultaneously. The display moves through a sequence of numbers and the trays will then open.
