World of Warcraft latest patch-Cannot Validate Game Version

Hi just upgraded to latest patch. Until that time game was running fine. Now I keep getting Cannot Validate Game Version. Did everything Tech Tips at Wow suggested - ran virus scan with McAfee and AVG - also used Fixwareout and ran repair in safe mode and regular. None of this worked - what more might you suggest?

Did all of the things you suggested and also ran Spybot. Unistalled again (about 4 times) and installed from their site as my original came was off of a CD. Still no luck. Also did an install of patch from a mirror site. Thank you though for the help. Any other thoughts would love to know - now more frustrated trying to figure what is wrong.

Thank you DaSupa Beast - that is solution too that I seem to come up with upgraded this computer to 1.5 gig a while back and am told by others could be the problem.

There are a couple things u can do. U can delete the path and redownload it, u may have gotten a bad copy of the patch. Second thing u can do is to completely uninstall wow and reinstall it, this may take a while so do it on a day that u have time.

well the only other thing i can think of that it may be a ram problem, that is wat happened to me. it turned out that after a patch my game wouldnt work any more and it ended up that some of my ram had gotten corrupted and easy fix is to change around your ram sticks and if it still doesnt work for each combination of ram then im not sure what the problem could be

your computer simply may not be able to play world of warcraft anymore. you may need to splurge and buy a more game-intensive computer, or upgrade the video card. good brands to look for are anything ati and nvidia.

Graphics lagging, stuttering in world of warcraft

Try this once
World of Warcraft System Requirements
The World of Warcraft system requirements are impressive. World of Warcraft requires a large amount of memory, hard drive space and, above all, a solid
internet connection.
For a Windows system, the minimum World of Warcraft system requirements are as follows:
- Intel Pentium III 800 MHz or AMD Athlon 800 MHz processor
- at least 512 MB of RAM,
- 32 MB graphics card,
- DirectX 9.0,
- 6.0 GB of hard drive space
- 4x CD-ROM
- 56k internet connection.
However, the recommended World of Warcraft system requirements are substantially higher:
- Intel Pentium IV 1.5 GHz or AMD XP 1500+ MHz processor
- 1024 MB of RAM
- 64 MB 3D graphics card
- broadband internet connection
- A two-button, scroll-wheel mouse is also recommended.
Millions of players connect daily to the World of Warcraft servers, and the amount of information being transferred from any one computer to the main terminals is enormous. But with all of these numbers and with all of these devices, frequent gamers know they will need to go above the minimal system requirements to experience the game fully. The minimal World of Warcraft system requirements only guarantee the game to run; they do not guarantee the game to run in a playable fashion.
There are some other known issues to keep in mind
- Some video cards may experience problems displaying certain textural effects while playing. Graphic issues may include colors shimmering across static textures, textures that appear solid green or white, and patches of texture or even geometry that are invisible.
- World of Warcraft/Burning Crusade requires the latest version of DirectX.
- Also, it is important that your video drivers are up-to-date and compatible with the latest version of DirectX. Outdated or incompatible video drivers can cause a variety of video and game play issues.
Something else you should keep in mind is that World of Warcraft had multiple expansion packs and down-loadable patches and these are also a factor into the World of Warcraft system requirements. Overtime, the specifications have shifted, and will keep shifting in the future; what was once acceptable to run the original game is no longer adequate for some expansions and patches. This will force players to upgrade their computers, if they wish to run the latest versions of the game. Gamers really have no choice; in order to compete, they must have the latest World of Warcraft software and a system that meets at least the recommended requirements; otherwise, you will keep stumbling around.

Norton Firewall is delaying World of Warcraft patch

I would turn OFF the Norton Firewall and then download your patch. If you have a complete Norton Security System you might have to turn all of it off. Then when the patch is downloaded turn everything back on and do a virus scan to make sure nothing got in while things were turned off. Norton and McAfee are the 2 most annoying programs made. When I run my windows hard drive(s) I use free stuff and I haven't had any issues with them.

World of Warcraft Patch problem

Try these two solutions -

Try to move the World of Warcraft folder back to where it was originally installed and run the patch.

Or try this -
1. go to Macintosh HD => Users => Shared => Blizzard: delete the .plist file inside
2. launch the World of Warcraft game and let the patch go through again, download/patch

Good luck.

Unable to Validate Game Version

Two causes for this error meassge either you are not running the latest version of World of Warcraft, or your game files have been modified.

It is possible that you have a virus or program which is modifying files on your computer. Scan your computer with an updated anti virus program to make sure that your machine is clean. Then make sure you are launching the game using Launcher.exe
If none of the above helps they are a few repairing tools that might fix your game, you might want to check "Fix Wareout".

Good luck.
