1 Answer

Ricoh 2035 Bubbabear, First, thanks for responding to my original question about seeting up the scanner feature on my copier. In your response, you gave me the following steps. My comments are after the dashes 1) Press user tools/counter.- worked 2) Press file transfer.-worked 3) Enter the workgroup name under domain.- no Domain field- only SMTP 4) Exit out to go to Key OP tools.-worked 5) Look for address book management.-got it 6) Select new program.-did this 7) Give it name (name of person or computer)-did this 8) Select File.-no "File" option available 9) Select Browse- no "browse" option available Again, thanks for your help. I'm stuck! ashtro (aka Bill)

No luck. Got to step 8 and there was no "File" button. Browsed around everywhere under the Key Op group. Here's what I had when selecting New Program:

I was able to Name it
    Buttons available:

    Name; User Code; E-mail; Group

Searched everywhere for a "File" or "Browse" option, to no avail.

I printed out the configuration sheet, and if you want, I have a "drop site" for files that I can get it to you, if it would help. Again, thanks so much for your time.- ashtro

Firewall is turned off on at least one, which is the one in arms reach. I wouldn't think the others would have to be off????

On the workgroup, I think (and please correct me if I'm wrong) it's the same as the domain since it's a peer-to-peer?

Here's the drop site for the config file printout:

    http://drop.io/jx9vjg7

    No password should be needed.

    Man, you are a blessing...

But without the "File" or "Browse" selection on the copier itself, how can I see any of the computers? I'm assuming that step 8 & 9 are to be accomplished on the copier under:

    Key OP >Address Book Management

Again, I'm able to select New program and give it a name, but there's no "File" or "Browse" button.

And Domain is set just like you said.

The copier itself works as a printer, so the network connection is there to all the PC's on the peer-to-peer netwrok. It's just this scanner interface setup that I cannot get working. hence our conversation!

Again, many thanks. Did you get the file from the dropio site?

I'm at work now, but will try this later this afternoonn when I get to church (where the copier is). Is there a default password, or are you saying 'password' is the default password?

Man, you get this working, the folks at church will think I walk on water! But I promise to give you the credit! I will let you know when this works.- ashtro

Ok. I see \\RNP...\Aficicio2035 on the PC. Firewall disabled. Sharing for the copier on. I can print to the copier, but still no scanning capabilty. Step 7 and 8 above still do not exist. When I select the scanner function, select a verizon.net e-mail address, attach sender e-mail address, it scans, but get error dialog box saying:

Sending the data to SMTP server has failed.

Do I have to set up a mail server, even though it's a peer-to-peer network?

    Bill

  • ashtro Oct 22, 2008

I'm using the same smpt setting as the folks are using in their outlook, which is 'Outgoing.verizon.net'.

  • ashtro Oct 23, 2008

Ok. That makes sense. So it sounds like there does need to be an e-mail server? That being Verizon (which I guess would be the easiest), or could I set up a free e-mail server, e.g., 'hmailserver', or something of the sort, on one of the PC's, and point the copier to it?

No, there is no browse option.

I'll first look into getting the Verizon IP and let you know how I make out. Thanks. Bill

From memory (yikes), the buttons were:

    Name
    E-Mail
    Group
    User

I think that was all of them. I know there is no "File" or "Browse".

I'll get back with you when I get the mail server thing done. Thanks. Bill

Go to interface instead of file transfer.  Press next on the screen.  You will see the domain name there.
Once it's populated, you can check it on your computer workstations.

    Whats your drop site?

It's sounds like the workgroup isn't being recognized or established yet.  Is windows firewall turned off the computers and is there a workgroup assigned for your office?

The firewall will block sharing from working on local computers. There are ways you can enable file an printer sharing to work on a computer firewall depending on which one you are using but for troubleshooting purposes it should be turned off.

Workgroup name should be the same as domain name. It is a peer to peer network.

Yes I did.  Goto 192.168.1.100 in internet explorer.  Goto administration.  At the login screen, leave the user id blank and type in password under the password screen.

Goto the SMB section.  Under workgroup name type in CHURCH and save it. Exit internet explorer.

Once the sharing is on your copier will appear on the network as \\RNP7DA73C\Aficio2035

On the computer that the firewall is disabled, you will see RNP7DA73C in the connected computers.

    Try the folder setup instructions.

    password is the default password.

If you want to send e-mail from your copier, you need to contact Verizon to find out what the IP address is to Outgoing.verizon.net.  The copier can only send out e-mail by IP address settings rather than domain name settings of the e-mail server.

Instead of file option for setting up the folders.  Is there a browse option?

Then we can work on number 8.  I need to know what button options are available at the bottom of the screen in the address book management for you to use.

Some machine may require a rom upgrade to get certain features to work.

What about folder?  If you see that use that for step 8.

Hi, If it is a network copier then it may happens. There will be a button that provide you all information about the copier by pressing it. You will find the IP Address of the copier in this information page. Disconnect the copier from system and print the information page by pressing the button. Then connect it again. Open internet explorer put the Present IP address in address space. Then put the new IP address in the configuration page of the copier in internet explorer. Reboot the system and the copier.
