Question about Rival S16RB Electric Skillet

Open Question

Skillet Our skillet will not get hot enough. Even with preheating it takes much longer to cook than a regular skillet. We do like the convenience of the removable pan for cleaning.

My S16RB will not get hot enough to cook pancakes. I called Jarden (Rival parent company) and they sent me a replacement. Same problem. It would not get hot enough to boil water set to the max. They sent another replacement. Again same problem. Turning the temperature to 400 would only produce 184 degrees. I returned that one to them for testing at my expense. I have waited almost 4 months for results and a correction of the problem but have had no response. I am totally dissatisfied with it all. Am I suppose to go buy a different brand and write this off as a dud and go on? My first response was very good from Jarden but they have left me with an opinion of total customer neglect after 4 months of waiting with out a response.

Have a corning ware countertop electric skillet. I need the skillet part. This particular item originally came with three parts. The bottom which is a seperate piece of corningware that heats up, the pan...

I think the poster is talking about an item called Corning Electromatic Skillet. These Corning Ware skillets can be found all over the internet like Ebay. The part that sits on the warming area part is not called a skillet but a casserole. Look for one that is 12" by 12". Comes in many patterns also. If interested here is a site that has one available. http://SEWWHATSNEW47.blujay.com just search for Corning Electromatic skillet on that store. I think this is what the poster is talking about.

Hi, Your skillet is either defective or someone has left it on high with nothing in it. Either way, if it is still under warrenty, I would try and return it. As there is some debate about the toxicity of teflon, I would be very careful about using this unit any further.

If you are going to keep the skillet, try using steel wool to remove the loose teflon, maybe even sanding it all off if you want, then polish with fine steel wool and use the skillet as a regular uncoated electric fry pan.

Hope this helps, and if you found this response satisfactory, please vote. Thanks and good luck.

I find that in viewing this site that the listed " solution" is not a solution at all! This skillet has a defective design and coating and should be recalled!
