Re: Saving movies to my computer
Handbrake will be a good idea ...
But if the DVD's is encrypted by CSS, You can try this Daniusoft dvd
ripper, it is able to rip dvds to computer in 1:1. it is also capable
to save dvd to computer in regular video format. it can bypass all kind
of dvd copyright protection schemes, so it is able to rip copyright
protected dvd movies.
Not like some ordinary DVD rippers, it will not break the video into
pieces, it will join all DVD titles and chapters and make them as one
standalone video file, thus you can play it on your USB drive

The problem's not what they are saved as, it's your burning software needs to transcopr them into mpeg-2 format so that they burn properly. There are several dvd burning software programs out there...some very pricy and some are free. For pricy type I would go with nero 10 For free, I reccomend Free DVD Creater Whatever program you go with, it must be one that will change the format from whatever it is, to mpeg-2.
http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0900000562/DC210NIM-EN.pdf here is the manual look on page 62 for playback on a pc. you need a dvdrom drive. if you have one make sure you have software like windows media player 10 or 11, or powerdvd to play the movie. as for editing the video is a little bit more tricky. you are going to have to "rip" the video and then combine it in a program like windows movie maker with the other dvd that has been ripped too. when you are done editing in windows movie maker just choose avi or dvd type.
There is a free open source converter named super@. Download it here http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html. And to burn it to DVD use imgburn (also open source and free) and you can download it here. http://www.imgburn.com/. they are both excellent programs and absolutely free.
I use Handbrake ( http://handbrake.fr ) to turn the minidvd files into Mpeg4 files. I have a canon dc 220 and I hook it up to my computer with the supplied USB cable. I then copy the files onto my laptop and use Handbrake to convert them to the mpeg4 format.
You need to download the movie to a computer and store it in a video file. Then you should be able to use a software program to burn it to a DVD. I use a TIVO for watching and burning my videos. You don't need a computer. You save the video by recording it to the TIVO's hard drive then after it is on the drive you DUB it to an empty DVD-R disc.
This depends on what kind of CD you wish to make. If you simply wish to put the videos on the CD as data to be viewed later on another computer, you can transfer the video into windows movie maker (most PC's come with this free program) with File > Import video from Digital Video Camera, and then your movie can be saved via File > Publish Movie. Select "This Computer" and click Next. Select a name for your movie and the directory in which you want to save the file and click Next. Then adjust any final settings and click Publish. Then you can burn that file onto a CD.
However if you wish to make a DVD, follow the same steps as above but instead of selecting "This Computer", select "DVD". NOTE This step only works if you also have Windows DVD Maker installed.
Both Windows Movie Maker and Windows DVD maker can be downloaded for free off the internet, if they are not already on your computer.
i suggest you obtain the program cyberlink powerproducer onto your pc which is such a user friendly program to help you burn video from camcorder straight onto a dvd. you should be able to download from the internet.
