Try OpenOffice by Sun. It is free and will open, create and edit all Office files. It is written for Java, so it will work on any OS. http://www.openoffice.org/

Do you have a copy of powerpoint on your computer? If not, then he sends it to you as an email, and you can view it with this program.

I can't find a website that is easily to download into my laptop for free microsoft powerpoint

Unfortunately there isn't a free legal copy of Microsoft Powerpoint available anywhere. You need to purchase the software. Even though there are pirated downloads, the risk of infection is there, plus it is illegal! What I suggest is that you download Open Office. This is a free equivalent software that can do all of the things that a regular Microsoft Office can do. It is even compatible with your existing documents, excel sheets and powerpoint presentations. There is just a slight difference in the interface and some commands.

Hello and welcome to FixYa,

This is because you dont have MS Office installed on your computer or if you do have MS Office the files are not associated with opening with Office.

PPS stands for PowerPoint SlideShow or can be found as PPT (PowerPoint Template) or PPTX for early versions of Office 2007 and 2010.

Please install either Microsoft Office (needs to be bought) on your computer or (if you only need to view this file) install PowerPoint Viewer 2007 or 2010 (free to download HERE).

If this is a problem directly related to Hotmail inbox or the specific email please check your email settings in hotmail or gmail account for filetypes.

Also do regular powerpoint or ms office files open if you download them from the attachments in the email?

Regards from FixYa.

Thanks.

How to download microsoft office for free on windows 7

There is no free version unless you get Pirate software and we can't help with that. You can download a trial version from Microsoft but it will only work for 90 days unless you purchase it.

Where can i get a free download of microsoft word, excel and powerpoint?

You cannot get these programs for free. You can get Powerpoint Viewer for free but not Powerpoint that you can use in any way other than to view presentations. However there is Open Office which is free alternative to Microsoft Office. http://download.cnet.com/OpenOffice-org/3000-18483_4-10263109.html There is also LibreOffice which is also free. http://www.libreoffice.org/

I wan't to open power point

First off, you need to have a copy of PowerPoint Installed.
If you do, then in most cases you can click Start / All Programs / Microsoft Office / and click Power Point.

If you don't have powerpoint you can get the free powerpoint viewer to VIEW the slideshows without having powerpoint installed.

If you need to open a powerpoint slideshow and don't own microsoft office you will have to purchase a copy from almost any computer store.

If you have to make a slide show and don't have Microsoft Office you can always use the FREE OpenOffice software that can open most MS Office documents and has all the same features as MS Office.

Any email file I receive that has a pps attachment I cannot open

Ill ask the obvious first, do you have Microsoft Powerpoint installed? If you dont, you can download a free PPS viewer. Just Google "PPS Viewer" , download and install it. If you do have PowerPoint, then try saving the pps file to your computer locally and try opening it? Please always post your questions with as much details as you can. What email client are you using? Gmail, Yahoo, Thunderbird, Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, etc. Its hard to answer questions with hardly any info. Thanks!
