Attenuator light always on... no sound

Unit powers up, teh display is fully functional, but the attenuator light is constantly lit. Pressing the ATT button puts "ATT" in the display, pressing ATT again removes the "ATT" display, but the LED stays lit and I don't get any sound.

Any ideas?

That light that stays on is not for the "ATT", it is just an indication that the unit has power. The problem with your radio is most likely the power amp IC inside the radio if you are using speakers connected directly to the radio from the speaker wires on the harness. If you are using an external amplifier for your speakers the problem will be either the electronic volume control IC or a muting transistor that has gone bad or the external amplifier is defective. There is no way to know exactly what is wrong without doing a few checks on the radio with a multimeter on have the radio on a work bench to be able to open it up and check a couple of things inside of it.

If you have a multimeter and a power supply (to turn the radio on while on a work bench) I can guide you thru the troubleshooting process to help you figure it out. But you will also need to have a soldering iron, solder, and solder wick to be able to remove the bad part and put in a new part.

Let me know if you will require any more help from me.

My Sony xplod car stereo keeps going off saying att on/off but the light blue wire for Bluetooth isn't connected to anything. Any suggestions?

Att is not your bluetooth. Its the attenuator. Reset the radio an see if it clears. Sometimes the processor loses itself an needs to reboot.

Hi!After a couple of storms, probablu due to statics in the antennas I use, after depressing the ATTENUATOR of the trahsceiver, the radio goes almost deaf...I guess some elemet around the attenuator circuit...

well the att does turn down the recieved signal but if it is too much ,,there is a chip resistor of value 56 ohm ,,,with magnify glass it sould have 56 on it on the curcuit board.

What is amp remote and att

Amp remote: The In dash front unit has a remote switching output which is normally a BLUE wire which can be connected to the power amplifier kept at the rear for powering when the front unit is switched ON.

Att: this is the attenuation of the reduction of voluem/mute that becomes necessary when you are ina traffic condition and wants to listen to external noise.Pressing this button will reduce the level of volume in an instant which can be used as you desire than to reduce the volume with the controller.

My 1988 chevy truck won,t start.I put new battery clamps on .I charged the battery . I put new ground wire negative to body. all I GET is a click.what should I do next?

I would have the starter tested. Also check to see if the motor is turning freely, by turning the crankshaft pulley, just to make sure the motor isn't locked up.

ATT. what is it and what does it do?

att is attenuator. It reduces the strength on incoming signals. It is meant to mainly reduce the signals of STRONG LOCAL stations that are blocking your reception of other stations adjacent channels. Or, if your are listening to the STRONG LOCAL staton but they sound distorted or muffles, turning on the attenuator (att) might clear up the sound of their transmission. It is alos used to just reduce the sensitivity of your scanner so that you will only hear local calls, like a local/distant switch would do.

The "Reset" button on Model# KRC-207S is located between the"ATT" (attenuator) and the "1" button. It is a tiny hole. Insert the end of a pen or pencil into the hole and hold for a few seconds and the unit will reset itself. Hope this helps...
