Blank screen with new batteries! TI-84 Silver Plus

The screen is totally blank - no power. Trying to use my daughters old TI - 84 Plus silver edition - since she lost the new one I bought her last Spring! ACT is this coming Saturday. The screen is totally blank. We have just replaced the small 303 and a few minutes later put in 4 new AAA. Still nothing . Is there anything else I can do - besides go buy a new calulator? Thanks

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

What do you mean by "changed the resolution"?

My operating system was wiped, is there a reset button or something? I can't even turn it on.

Get fresh batteries. Install the TI connect software on your computer, Connect your calculator to the computer and your computer to the Internet. Run the TI Connect software. Click the Updates button. See screen capture.
If calculator is recognized by the computer you may be able to reinstall the system.

Battery change tI - 84

TI calculators have an unpleasant habit of losing screen contrast whenever batteries are replaced, so that the blank screen looks exactly like it's off.

Turn the calculator on (though you won't necessarily see anything). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for five seconds or so.

TI-84 with blank screen

Yes there is, but you need a screwdriver to get at it... make sure the batteries are in the right way first, though.
