LN-R408D-no picture screen suddenly faded away to black

    TV goes on but its black. I have another exact tv bought at the same time but that one is fine.

Unplug and replug from wall. See if that helps. Ours decided to turn to white and not show any picture now. This is a quirky tv. When it works it is great, when it does not work, it really makes you mad. It is brand new!!!

Unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 30 minutes or so. This must make a hard reset to this set.

I'm willing to bet you have a backlight problem. Turn on the TV, take bright flashlight and shine it on the screen. Do you see the faint image???

Samsung LCD TV Screen is very dark but still shows picture

You either have a bad Power Supply or a bad Main bd. Worst case can be the inverters on the Panel have gone bad in which case the Panel needs to be replaced.

Gray screen

Try unhooking the LVDS cable from the controller board and see if it does the same thing. If so you need to replace the LCD panel.

they must try to repair the smps [puff capacitors]first.then try a master reset thru the service mode.if these steps do mot solve the problem replace the t-con board on lcd panel.

Samsung LNR408D 40 in. HDTV

Sounds like a backlight going bad or possibly the inverter. Check each backlight first for dark discoloration on the ends. If that checks out good then it's the inverter.
