Question about AT&T E2662B 2.4 GHz 2 Line Corded/Cordless Answering Phone System

Open Question

Crushed cordlesshandset, bought new one, can't get it to accept registration with base

I have a 2-line 2.4 ghz corded/cordless answering system e2662b.
damaged one of my two handsets, ordered and received new handset.
have it charged but it won't accept registration with base.

one thing i have noticed: base displays a 14 digit number, manual
states registration is 15 digits.

have tried to enter 14 digit number, but can't get new handset to
accept it and start working.

another thing i've noticed: my 'old' working handset is registered
as handset 1. the new handset i purchased (it's user manual)
states new handset is automatically registered as handset 1
(also). is this a problem. how to go around it.

thanks.

Place the handset into the base station (not the charging station) so it can resync to your base.

Uniden 2.4 GHz cordless phone won't register to base

Same happened to me. Unplug the base from power and the phone line for 30 minutes. Same for the handsets - all. Take out the batteries. Retry. After it says 'registration failed'. Leave it in the cradle. Several minutes later it found itself.

Programming old handsets to a new base

Cancel the old handsets registration at the previous base unit if desired.
For additional handsets, you must register each of them at the new base unit. Only one handset can be registered at a time. A handset will be assigned anextension number at registration.

Make sure the base unit and the other handsets are not being used. Program the same way as the extra handset you bought.

Registration must be completed within 1 minute.

Had same problem, answered AMOST completely by the owner's manual, which you can find here:

http://www.quadro.net/DCT646om.pdf

I recommend these steps in this order:

1. Try unplugging the base set for 30 seconds, then plugging it in again.

2. If that doesn't work, these steps come from the manual:

• Check both ends of the base telephone line cord.
• Make sure the AC adapter is plugged into the base and wall outlet.
• Disconnect the AC adapter for a few minutes, and then reconnect it.
• Remove the base ID (see "Replacing the Base Setting" on page 27) and register the handset
(see "Register the Handset to the Base" on page 50).
• Make sure that you are not too far from the base.
• If an outside call is already established, you can not be able to make another outside call.

3. If at any point you get the "Registration failed" message when inserting a phone into the cradle, try unplugging the base for 30 seconds again.

4. If your situation is like mine, you'll probably want to get new batteries, which is what started the whole problem.

Good luck.

GE handset registration?

You may need to "reset" the whole system1.gif. Do this by :
1 Unplug phone line, power to charger base, and remove the batteries.
2 Wait a couple of minutes.
3 Plug in batteries first, then phone line, and finally the power cord.

Then try to set the phones in the basecharger. (If the new battery is not charged yet, then you will have to charge it first!)
