Best bet buy a new switch but first, get your motherboards model and find the manual on it
so you can locate where to put the plugs of PWR SW and RST SW on ur mobo

new switch shouldn't cost much either usually less than 10$

My HP monitor keeps going to sleep,it reads (power button lockout) How do I fix this?

This is because the monitor's Power Button Lockout function is enabled. Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds to unlock the Power button function. Your sleep problem should also be related to the lockout issue.

My computer was downloading windows updates overnight and froze. Tried turning it off from the power button, but did not work so I unplugged the computer. Few hours later I plugged the computer back in and...

You will have to get your power button unstuck. I do not know what type of button you have but if you would like to at least get your PC on without it instantly turning off, you can remove the power switch connector from the motherboard. You will eventually need to have the switch unstuck, or replaced though.

It is possible to add a motherboard reset switch to a vostro 200 pc

Manually very probably, but need to open it find the reset 2 pins connector next to the power on/off pins and make a switch and then get it outside with cables. but normally don't need all that.
Just push the power button down for maybe 5 seconds and the computer will by force turn off then just push it again and turn it on, is almost the same as a hard reset button function.

Cd is stuck in drive and can't open. Any ideas?

Hi if you have a very close look at the cd drive, you know the part that slides out well if you look just below this you will see a very small round hole, now if you get a long pin and push it in this hole it will open the tray for you, you need to push the pin in strait, you will feel the pin hit something hard and this is what you need to push you may need a big sowing needle to be strong enough to push the tray open you need to poke it in the hole then keep pushing until the tray slides out enough for you to get hold of and pull it open

once its open i wouldnt get using it again as it will keep doing the same thing and not opening you will need to get this drive replaced as its moving parts are on the way out

let me know if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

Are you holding the menu button down when the monitor is off or on? Are you keeping the menu button held down when you push the power button to turn it on?

I have purchased an AOC 22" monitor to connect to my laptop >>>>>i have connected it but it does not display. What is wrong.

Depending on the laptop. Most have a key on the keyboard to toggle external display. Usually, you have to hold the function key [FN] then push the external display toggle.

When switching on you can hear it power up but the screen is dead? Please help! Acer one note book

Try using the function key for your display options

You should see a key related to your function key, generally a different color then the rest, labeled (F, Fun, FN, etc...) then look for a CRT/LCD, or LCD, or a symbol of a rounded square, or something resembling a monitor or screen.

Hold Fn and press that button, give it a few seconds. It should switch.

You can also hold a flash light up to the screen and see if there's any image, if this is the case then parts need to be replaced.

If you have any more questions please let us know. If this information has been helpful, please take a moment to rate the solution. Thank you.

Keyboard not functioning properly - ple'se ple'se help

First, we must find out if either its your keyboard that's busted or it has something to do with windows. If you can get hold of another keyboard, shut off the computer, switch keyboard, then power up the computer then see what happens. If it still does the same thing, try to do a system restore, click start>All Programs>Accessories folder>System Tools> then click system restore. Click next on the first system restore page> then choose a BOLD date that you're sure that the keyboard is still working fine. Click next, then click next again. Just just let go, the computer will automatically restart. At the end of the system restoration process a pop up will appear when you get to the desktop screen. Just click next. Test your keyboard. If it still does not work. Back your data then reinstall windows. You can also do PC restore if your computer has the capability to do PC Restore by restaring computer, on the dell logo screen(this screen appeaRS A FEW SECONDS AFTER TURNING ON THE COMPUTER)hold down CTRL key on KBoard while tapping F11. just follow the instructions given by the Symantec program.
