Hmmm..well..then the files you need will need to be professionally recovered. do not attempt this yourself.

How do I make Dell 530s boot and load windows?

Are there any sets of audio 'beeps' that occur during startup? If you get anything other than a single beep during startup, it could indicate an error code for hardware failure detected during the POST phase of bootup.

If you have recovery or Windows installation CD's, try pressing F12, go to the bootup menu and try booting from the CD.

Look at the bootup menu and see if there is a hard drive as one of the options. If the hard drive is not there, or if you try to boot from the hard drive from that menu and you get error messages, that might indicate something wrong with the hard drive.

If you can boot from the CD, you may be able to use the Windows Recovery Manager to restore Windows on your hard drive, if the hard drive is working. There may also be a recovery partition on the drive that will allow you to recover Windows, but beware that files on the hard drive may be lost when you use the recovery partition.

If you have files on the hard drive you need to recover, you may be able to remove the hard drive, put it on an USB drive adapter, and use another PC to copy files off of the old drive, even if it cannot boot the old computer. After you have recovered your files, you can try the recovery partition or format the drive and use Windows install disks to restore Windows to the drive.

What will i do!after i shutdown my compaq Evo N800v laptop, and remove the harddisk for me to copy some larger files on my another laptop!and when i put the harddisk back and power it on,it just hang up on...

It looks like one of the start up files have been changed or corrupt. Any change to the boot environment will cause this problem. The solution here could be a bit long but you just have to take your hard drive to the other computer and back up all your user data and files you need. Then take is back to the Laptop, just in case anything goes bad. Get a copy of the operating system you are using on a CD and let the computer boot from it by pressing F2 or Del to get into the BIOS and go to the Boot Sequence or Boot order to make the CD rom the first device to boot from. Then press F10 to save and exit. This will allow the computer to boot form the CD. Choose the repair option to repair the master boot record. If you are using Windows XP, put the CD in and choose Repair on the first window. This is a command prompt and this is what you are going to type in the command prompt to install the Automatic System Recovery (ASR) winnt32.exe /cmdcons and this will install the recovery console. In the recovery console, type fixmbr to fix the master boot record

On startup screeen is prompting me to hit f2 for setup not responding to command please help with issue. thanks

restart the pc and keep hitting the F2 immediately until you see the setup screen. my guess is you're hitting it too late. if you are just trying to start the pc normally, ignore the prompt, most pc will say that and the pc will boot up windows normally. it's not telling you to hit F2, it's mentioning it simply because it's an option. clarkcanhelp_0.jpg

I have a Win XP desktop that has a corrupt system file

If you know what file it is, you can try booting with a recovery disk - you can download the UBCD boot ISO for example - and copy it back.

Or, if you can enter at least Safe Mode, you can try running the SFC /SCANNOW command from the prompt.

Finally, ordinarily you can run a XP install on top of an existing installation without losing data. This is a last resort, though; some user personalization and info is bound to be lost.

OK the only shot you got is to geta USB to SATA/IDE converter dongle, connect to another PC's USB port. Hopefully, you will be able to read it. Otherwise still plugged in you may be able to use recovery software and get you DATA back. Recover my files is one,

The laptop is having a problem and asking to reinstall system32hal.dll.

This error comes when there is issue with harddisk indexing unit.
For that you have to run 1 command in prompt.
First put recovery disk in cd /dvd rom.
Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or "del" key then you get bios setup screen.
Then go to boot option then set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom drive.
Then save settings and exit.
Then it boot with disk.
Then follow the procedure and enter in recovery console mode.
Choose "R
then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
then press "y
then it recover error on harddisk.

Then after completed 100% process.
Restart it then check.
if still not load windows then again boot with disk then choose repair option so it repairs your windows.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

Keyboard doesnt work

hi there,

possible troublemakers:

- keyboard connection got lost internally (hardware side)
- caught a virus which is blocking windows(software related problem)
-

to check hardware side:

try if you can access the BIOS when booting up(press Del, F1 or F2 while booting/ RAM check), check if keyboard works in Bios, to make sure it is not broke/got disconnected internally, leave without saving changes. Then get a windows install CD, try to boot from it, not from harddisk(you may have to set the CD/DVD-drive as first BOOT device in BIOS!), now check if keyboard is working(by typing anything), do not install windows!
if that does not work, get a second external keyboard(ps/2!-adaptor), hook it up and try to use that with your laptop.

to do a virscan:

get the avira rescue disk image (downloadable from AVIRA)
burn the ISO-file on an another computer, use resulting CD with your laptop...
found anything? if windows got killed you may have to reinstall it.
your files on the lappie will remain, but all the installed programs will not work then.so do back-up of the data you need, format whole disk and set up the system anew.

Good luck
