Canon Power shot SD30 digital camera

I have got a Canon SD30 camera which I have had for less than two years. Recently it started losing charge very quickly, and then it stoped to power up. I have changed the battery with a new one and although it is showing that it is charging howerver it is still does not pwoer up despite the charger showes the green light which means it is fully charged.
Any ideas please!

Many thanks

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

SOURCE: canon sd450 possible battery problem?

If you have charged the battery many times then after 3 years that could be to 90% your problem.
Firstly try to clean the battery contacts and camera contactswith cleaning alcohol or contact cleaner.
If that does not help, it is a new battery.

SOURCE: My canon EOS 450D battery loses power within 5mins

If it's an original battery, call Canon, if you've only charged it once, I expect the camera is still under warranty. I've had lots of dealings with Canon Photography, the usually give extremely good customer service.

If it's a cheap one you bought of ebay - that's why!

Where to plug in the cord in cononSD30 to copy photos to laptop

The Canon PowerShot SD30 uses a camera station to download and print photos. You will need the "interface cable" that came with your camera and camera station.
  • Attach the USB end of the cable to one of your computer's USB ports, and the other end to the Digital Terminal on the camera station base (see photo below);
  • On the camera, slide the camera mode switch to "Play", then place the camera in the camera station, and turn on the Power.
  • The two devices are now connected, ready for photo downloading.
All instructions are in the "Basic Camera User Guide". If you can't find your Canon SD30 manual, you can download a PDF version from the Canon website at:

Hope this helps.

I fully charge the battery and recently it lasts just 2 days in the camera whether being used or not. the camera is just 5 months old. Would this be abattery or camera fault

Mine is over a year old. I typically need to charge it once a month if not in use and otherwise after about 800 shots without flash or 300 shots with flash.

Powershot SD30 taking blurry pics.

dust could have gotten insode making the focus lens to stick.

you might have to take it to a camera shop for a good cleaning.

dusty places are always bad for electronics.

but sounds like the focus lens is failing, there might be an option to clean the lens electroniclly, most canon has the option. not sure about sony.

good luck

You can either change the resolution of the pictures you take to a lower level. This will give you more picture to take on your memory card. You can get a bigger memory card and that will give you more shots.

If you go to this site, you can get the manual:

Canon Power Digital shot SD30, when you turn it on the screen is blac

Have you hit the display button? That's the first thing to try before calling Canon for their free tech support.

You may qualify for a deeply discounted upgrade if you are beyond the one year factory warranty.

If you are within your one year warranty, it may be something that can be repaired under the terms of the warranty.

Hope this helps!
