Did you reset the hours on your system once you inserted a new light bulb? Otherwise the pj might be a bit confused if you do not reset that with each bulb. The suggested life expectancy for the lamps is around 3000-6000hrs for a DLP lamp pj.
Have you also cleaned out the filter? It is a GREAT idea to do that every year otherwise it could potentially over heat. Most of the time you can have some one come out, bring it to a service center, or ship it to the manufacturer to be cleaned, then they mail it back to you.
Let me know how things go. You can always contact the manufacturer to direct you on how to reset the hours. They do offer a life time support.
Best of luck!!

As far as if it's worth it... That's up to you.
SOURCE: color wheel making noise can it be lubricated
no. it's a maintenance-less, brushless motor. you can blow the dust out of it with canned air, but most likely the bearings are shot and you'll need to replace it. you could get the part from an infocus service center and do it yourself, or send it to them for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

It's been awhile since I worked on one of these, but I believe there are 2 screws on the rear and 2 screws on the bottom that have to be removed. Then there is a slot on the front bezel which if I remember correctly is on the side of the front bezel furthest away from the lens. Stick a small flathead in the slot and slide the release in the slot down. You should see that end release and then pull the front off. Pull the rear off by popping it loose with the flathead. There is no slot for the rear. It just sort of snaps in there between the top and bottom covers. Then unplug the ribbon cable from the board under the top cover and remove the top. Have fun and good luck on the colorwheel. The segments precise and I don't recommend gluing them back in especially if you aren't sure of the sequence. Lastly, it could be hard to find one for this model because the service life for this model ended around 4 or 5 years ago and may no longer be supported. Google Infocus and go to the website and see if you can get one.
