If the fuel is contaminated with water the mower will most likley not fire at all. you more than likley have a pulsa jet carb on your mower. you will need to get a rebiuld kit that has a diaphram in it. replace the diaphram and re install carb. this will take care of your problem. the diaphram pulsates under vacum created from your intake and pumps fuel to your engine. 1 way to test this theorey is tie your engine brake handle back. then start your engine after a few primes. when it fires hurry and give the primer button another push or two. If the mower continues to fire while priming the diaphram is bad!

I dont understand the pulling the button - do you mean push the primer button - if you mean primer button it sounds like the high speed jet in the carb is dirty and needs service- you can attempt to start and once engine fires have someone continually push primer to keep running it ma clear the blockage - did You check the fuel tank for any water ?

I have a Briggs and Stratton/Bolens 20" lawn mower which needs a primer button. Where can I get that part(s)? Thanks

It looks like the number you are giving are from the mower deck, and would work great for anything but the engine. On a flat head engine above the spark plug on the tin air shroud there will be some more number and they go to the Briggs and stratton engine you have.On a overhead valve engine you should look on the valve cover. There will be model, serial , and spec numbers, all three would be great and would make it easy to look up the primer bulb and post a link to it for you.

There is a tension adjustment on the body.. flip your mower over and you can see it better.. do not over-tighten it though because it needs slack to let the 1-2-3 to change on the fly.

How do you check the oil in a Weed-Eater-500-Series Side Discharge Mower, Model 10854261. It has a basic Briggs Stratton engine. I have a lost the manual and cannot figure it out!! HELP!!!!

most mowers have a dip stick like a car and the oil should be changed often and acting as if it wants to stall try fresh fuel gas is only good for 30 days in small engines

Weed eater 22" mower with

Hi stnstomper...

Look under the mower for a square plug or allen wrench type plug, this will be your oil drain for the motor.
Some of Briggs & Stratton motors do not have an oil drain plug...
If you do not have an oil drain plug then you will have to run the mower to get it warm, then remove the oil fill plug and tip the mower towards the oil fill plug to drain out the oil thru the fill plug hole.
