I think your problem is with the switch that is activated by the turning of the knob to supply power to the ignition transformer.
You may have to remove the entire top assembly to gain access to switches and whatever cam arrangement used in your range to activate the switch.

Why would the left burner activate the right igniter?

Sometimes a lot of the holes in the burner get plugged. I use a toothpick to clean them out.
Hope this helps.

Hi, My GE Monogram ZDP30N4HSS range is making a

First I would replace both front igniters thier about $20 a piece this should fix the clicking. They keep clicking because they are not sensing the flame. The front burner assemblys will need to be thoroughly cleaned. There are very small orfice holes that need to be spotless. Also the burner cover, the top piece that pulls off. Make sure the bottom lip is very clean. Use a fine wire like a paperclip to clean out the holes in the burner assembly. On my gas stove, 3 out of 4 burners light correctly. The 4th however will not light- doesn't show a spark. Though you can use a match to light the burner and it works fine. what gives? Can I do the repair?

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.

The spark won't stop on a burner; it turns on just fine, but when off, it continues to click. That is, it is the spark that causes the gas to ignite. But the "sparker" keeps on sparking, over and over and...

Most of these have a switch behind each knob that triggers the spark.

OFTEN during cleaning, mositure gets into the switch causing the problem.

If you suspect this, try using a hair drier to dry out behind the knob if you can;t remove and investigate if this could be the cause.

If your top burners are not lighting or will not work, it is possible that the burners have become dirty or wet. Please follow the troubleshooting directions below before calling service:
  1. Turn you burner to the Lite position:

If you hear clicking or sparking, go to Step 2.

If you do not, check your circuit breakers. If the circuit breaker is ok, we recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

  2. Clean the burner and electrode:

First remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Use a needle or paper clip to poke through the holes on the burner head. Re-assemble and try the burner.

Remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Even if it looks clean, wipe the tip of the electrode with a clean, dry paper towel and PRESS IT DOWN. Re-assemble and try the burner, again.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 3.

  3. Re-assemble - Make sure that each burner top matches its burner bottom. The burner top will lay flat if put on correctly.

Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 4.

  4. The spark igniter is operating properly, but the burner is still not lighting. At this point, we would recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.

Only one burner of four not working

sounds like a bad switch in the knob, turn on the defective side, turn on the one that works and keep the clicking going then turn on the defective burner while "other" is clicking if this lights then it means you have a bad switch or loose connections
