Question about Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56" TV
50” Samsung DLP TV. Model #HLR-5067W. This TV is perfect condition cosmetically. The Bad: TV lamp comes on fans and screen for a couple seconds then turns off (Lamp stays on for some time as do the fans). Lamp error flashes on the front bottom. I just replaced the lamp with a BRAND NEW BULB!!! (125 dollars comes with a one year Warranty. (I have receipt) I will also include the old bulb which still lights up) two days ago. I thought this would fix the problem (what the manual says for the flashing lamp error). I am no TV technician so I have only this to say. I have read many things about the ballast possibly being the problem but I no longer have the time or money to dedicate to the TV repair.
Did you use an original replacement lamp or an aftermarket replacement? From the price you give, it sounds like an aftermarket lamp, which are notoriously buggy and the problem may be with the lamp. If not, the lamp driver is your next likely culprit. It is also called a lamp power supply or lamp ballast.
