Question about Hunter Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I keep having this problem with my Hunter thermostat. It got really cold here last night, so I went and turned the heat on and set the thermostat to 70, but it won't kick in. When I press the Hold/Clear button, it says the setting is 66. Not even the programs are coming on. HELP, I'm cold!!! ;)

To get proper heat, keep your temp setting at 30+ degreeand also mode in "heat "position. If still no heat, check your heating sensorfor closed circuit by an OHMs metre. It it's with RV, check power to RV.Ifit's with heating element check power to element. If power is there but stillno heat means element defective. Replace new heating element. Thanks.

I want you to do a simple test to verify that this is a thermostat problem for me. Start by removing the thermostat from its' mounting, next locate the red and white wire terminals place a jumper between them. If the heater now runs it is the thermostat went bad on you, if it does not run please check all connections both to the thermostat and to the furnace making sure that your wires have tight connections and are not broken. I am really leaning towards the thermostat being bad here. Sorry for the bad news but really strong feeling. Good luck

what it sounds like happening is the unit is realizing it is falling behind most thermostat s have a 3 degree deadband if they fall 3 degrees or more at a time after running for so long then it will bring on the emergency heat which is located in your inside unit... when it gets really colds and you see this you need to go outside and look is the outside unit still running and is it freezing up on you...also if running check the larger of two pipes make sure the large pipe is hot to touch...based on the description you have given the thermostat is calling for emergency heat but for some reason is not bringing it on or there is a problem with the emergency heat.... hope this helps out some

If the van didn't over heat then no. Sounds though as if you did loose coolant and got an air pocket in the system. refill and keep a check on the coolant level. If it keeps going down, then you will need to find the leak and repair it.

On my thermostat which is a white-rodgers the flame symbol is flashing the heat is set to 68 but it stays on 66. I have a split unit Ruud. The problem happens at night when it is cold.

Is this a heat pump system? If so I would recommend switching the thermostat to aux. or emegency heat at night when it is cold outside. The heat pump will not keep up when the outside temperatures are real cold.

Furnance not heating

Make sure that the thermostat is set for the proper medium that you are using being gas or electric. Inside the cover of the thermostat should be a setting for either eletrical heat or gas heat. Set this switch for what your system is G for gas or E for eletric. This may solve your problem. Good Luck hope this helped you some

Hunter Fan Model 44260 eats batteries

you have to replace the thermostat . problems like this are common with latest electronic thermostats from china . most are going bad in less than 4 years . it so bad ,i am telling anyone who asks , to please keep there old regular thermostat , or if you have one of the old electronic ones (made over 10 years ago) hold on to it , it will last forever.... somehow when we moved the factory to china they forgot how to make thermostats that last ........ if you plan to rate this answer , please rate it 3 or 4 stars . this will help me stay in the paid answer department

Hunter 44360 problem

You probably have one of the wires reversed or have the options set incorrectly as to what type of heater you have.  Check your instructions here: http://www.hunterfanhq.com/tools/sales/hunter/preseason/images/owners/42710.pdf
