Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-U30 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Focusing problem The lcd screen displays dark colors with vertical white streaks when I turn on the camera. It will playback previously taken shots correctly. It will playback current shots as they look on the lcd screen. It seems to take the pictures normally. All other functions seem to work.

Re: focusing problem

Your camera model was included in the general recall issued last year for the CCD factory defect. Here's a link to the announcement, you can also see a screenshot there for comparison - If for some reason sony tells you that it's not the same problem with your camera - it could still be a CCD defect, or the camera's main PCB. Try not to take a no for an answer and get it fixed through sony. Good luck

Why are there verital color streaks on my picture? Everything is out of focus, except the previous pictures stored

There may be the issue with the CCD (image sensor device) of the Camera.

Refer this article to confirm this:

Check whether the LCD screen of the Camera looks similar as given on the page.

If yes, click on the "Yes" button at the end of the page to create an online Repair Request for sending the Camera to the Sony Factory Service Center.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LCD screen and pictures go completly white

The camera is defective. But as you've only had the camera three months it still is under warranty. Canon is usually very responsive to these type of problems and will bend over backwards to make things right (probably the most responsive of the camera companies).

Call 1-800-OK-CANON to resolve this issue.

I can't view my pictures after the shot,it very blerr

I'm not sure if you are talking about the quick view of a picture just taken, or using playback mode to view shots taken. Either way, I suggest changing batteries so they are fresh.
There are 3 different LCD choices when in "Shooting Mode."
Press "DISP."
The display mode will change each time you press this button.
1- Standard (no info displayed, just pic)
2- Detailed (infor displayed)
3- Off
If you have tried this, then you may want to perform a reset to the cam. This will reset any screen/LCD settings that may have been changed.
Goto the Setup Menu and select "Reset All." Select "OK" and press "Func. Set."
This reset WILL NOT reset the following:
-Current Shooting Mode
-Date/Time, Language, & Video System settings
-White Balance Data (of you have custom settings changed in the custom white calance function)

White Screen

  1. Upon startup lens emerges but when screen appears it is white whereas it normally displays whatever the lens sees. When the shutter button is pressed the camera will focus and take a white picture which can be deleted. The camera does not flash although flash is set to automatic and photo taken in a dark room. Camera flashes (weakly) with flash set to manual on. Lens is unobstructed and appears to be perfectly normal. Camera was not dropped. Batteries have been changed.

LCD Display pschedelic colors

If there are random colour streaks moving around it can be due to defective CCD imaging IC. You need a skilled workshop to replace this and we can get you the parts from SONY and service manuals.

Canon Powershot A75 blurred LCD display

It sounds like the focus element in your lens is not functioning properly. Does the lens retract completely when you turn off the camera? When you push the button does the camera attempt to focus the image? If you do not see any change in the image when you push the button, and do not hear any sound - then your focus motor is either jammed or malfunctioning. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
