Vx1 ps3 controller will not connect to USB on the ps3
My owns a ps3 with an original ps3 controller wireless, now I bought a 2nd one, a gioteck, with a USB that inserts into the ps3 so they can connect, expect that after a week or 2 they have stopped connecting, is there anything I can do to rectify the issue, I even plugged the USB into my laptop to see what it says, but says its empty, how is that, any help would be ace! Cheers

Most common for aftermarket controllers, they are built cheaply and drops like that have a tendency to break something inside. My solution, buy a new one, it's not worth the time or effort to take apart, diagnose, and hope you can fix it.
This works: Turn ps3 on. Plug the controller into the usb cable and into ps3. Then plug the dongle into other usb port. After a short time the dongle will flash quickly (this means it's in pairing mode - when the dongle flashes slowly it's too late). Press the PS/Home button as soon as you see the dongle fast flashing. All the LED's on the controller will begin to flash and after a short time one (or two) will remain solid. Immediately disconnect the charging usb lead from the controller and again the LED's will flash, push the PS/Home button again and after a short time one or two will remain solid. The controller should now be working. If the controller fails to respond repeat this process but make sure that you disconnect the dongle and reinsert (so you can see the fast flashing lights and try again).
connect your controller to the PS3 with the controller charger cable (not original, nor pairing, only charging), then turn on the ps3 followed by controller (had a using controller on and assigned controller one , automatically)
i used a pencil, and while all lights blinking, poked the small hole near front, L2, and on back
Remove the USB receiver from the ps3 console usb port. Turn OFF the ps3 console and the controller. Turn on the ps3. trun the controller to on. press the sync button on the controller. Insert the usb receiver to the usb port. Press Home button. Now I had two controllers one I had to return because no matter what i did it did not link but the 2nd one did this way
hi, i had this problem also. u have to plug in the usb receiver (looks like a usb storage that you would use for pc) into the front of pc. make sure you have batteries in controller turn it on and press home. red light will flash on usb receiver until controller is paired with it. hope this helps
