- I have the same problem... I have tried both the RF connection and the RCA cable... I can hear the sound from a DVD but all I can see on the screen is very small static line on the top of the tv tube. I cannot even see the setup menu... I have tuned to both channel 3 and channel 4... get sound on 4 and then I go to the AV (line) channel .. get the same sound.. no video...This DVD/VCR combo was being uses and they upgraded to another player... so its a gift and was working prior to this install.

Your unit has a composite output. Hook a standard TV up to this connection and try it. If you have a picture your display on the portable unit is bad. Sounds like you lost the backlight. You would need to have a tech look at this to fix it. Good luck.
