Black do not print

I have a Brother DCP115c Printer
I replaced the Black ink on my printer after it ran out of Black.
Now when I print all colours are printing but not black. I replaced the black cartridge with yet another one, but it still does not print black. The printer reader shows black has ink but it does not print black. I cleaned a number of times and aligned, but still no joy

Black is original

I do not understand the answers!
how do you clean the head caps and wiper with a rubycel stick?
on previous answers by the same person, dust on the print head, how do you clean that?

My printer ran out of ink. I replaced it and now the black won't print. It doesn't even show that there's black when I do the print summary.

    Actions to be taken:

    ***At the scanner***
Check that the document is placed facing in the correct direction.
In ADF scanning (available only in models with ADF units), is
the document placed face down in the document tray?
In flat-bed scanning also, is the document placed face down on
    the scanner glass?
    Check the following components:
    - CIS flat cable
    - Main PCB
    - CIS unit

    ***At the printer***
    • Check the ink cartridges. If any cartridges have run out of ink, replace them.
    • Check the connection of the head flat cables on the main PCB. (If either of those cables is broken or damaged, replace it.)
    • Replace the main PCB.
    • Clean the head caps and wiper of the maintenance unit with a Rubycel stick.
    • Replace the maintenance unit.
    • Check that the drain tubes are not bent.

Buy a new printer. These are so old now it's not worth the hassle.

Brother MFC-290C not printing black

The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results.

Thank you!!

Printer not printing

Unfortunately, like most multi cartridge ink jet printers when one ink is empty the printer will cease printing regardless of whether you just want to print in black and white and you have plenty of black ink left. I have heard of people tricking the printer into believing the cartridge is full by placing coloured tape etc in front of the ink sensing device but I am not sure how the Brother senses the ink levels as i have some aftermarket ink cartridges for mine which seem to be completely non-opaque (unlike the originals). The need to have colour cartridges in even if you only ever print with black ink is good news for Brother as the MFC-210c uses a large amount of ink during it's routine cleaning cycles (that you cant stop) and will empty all 3 cartridges in under 6 months without ever printer a single drop of colour ink. Sorry about all the bad news, at least your not alone......
