Computers have POST codes. POST stands for Power On Self Test. They are a series of beeps that have meaning due to the pattern of long or short beeps. You can google POST codes and see if you recognize the pattern. this will aid you in identifying what the problem is. From there a solution can be found.

Weird beeping noises

Need to know what make and model of laptop you have. It could be the CD drive's internal hardware, or the hard drive beginning to fail, or even a failing fan. You may be able to get MSI to repair it for free if you call them (If it's a warranty issue).

You should make a back up of anything important on your laptop if it's about to fail...

My ergo Microlite 642 laptop makes a beeping noise (short bursts about 1 second apart) then switches off automatically

Beeping can mean one of two things (Depending on the number of beeps); either there's a problem with the video card or the RAM. The best thing to do is the following:
1- Download the latest video card driver from the manufacturer's web site.
2- Please insure that the RAM card(s) is/are seated properly inside its slot and are not loose.
Hope this helps

CD-RW drive won't open, only beeps when trying to open.

Look for a hole on the front tray a little bigger then a pinhole. Straighten out a paper clip and insert it into the hole to eject the CD.

I have a Toughbook CF-52 that makes intermittent beeping noises and can't seem to find out why. Any thoughts?

The beeping noises occur when the laptop has been running for Several minutes?

This means that the temperature sensor on the CPU has reached the warning threshold, as set in the BIOS/CMOS of your laptop computer. It is getting too hot, ensure that the computer is slightly raised off the work surface to allow greater airflow through the computer system.

Also try and remove as much dust as you can from the CPU cooler of the laptop, the vent is usually located on the right side. Use a vacuum cleaner, the laptop should be powered off when cleaning it.

The beeping noise is a warning signal and not the problem. It is an indicator of the problem.

Take care!

E6500 making a beeping noise

Does beeping noise happened before turning on laptop? If yes unplug the laptop from the AC Adapter. Just leave AC Adapter ON and connected to the power outlet. Check if AC Adapter is the one making beeping noise. Note: This is an issue with dell AC Adapter laptops
If no beeping noise in AC Adapter then proceed checking it from the laptop. Does beeping noise happened immediately when laptop is turned on? If yes then it might be laptop's hard drive creating the sound. Try to check the BIOS in your laptop under the category performance if the HDD Acoustic is ON either in Normal or Performance. Note: When laptop is in performance the hard drive makes noise due to its speed, this is normal if BIOS HDD Acoustic mode is ON to performance.
If the noise only happens when sometime while working on the laptop, this might be cause by the laptop fan. This also happens after turning on the laptop fan my have dirt and dust, please do check.
If fan was cleaned, HDD performance was checked and AC adapter was checked then, carefully sense if noise is coming from the internal speakers.
Download the latest BIOS update for your laptop then flash the BIOS. Make sure battery and AC adapter are connected when doing these.

Compaq Presario 1655

try these 2 things. first remove power (battery, charger) now remove the panel that has the HDD and remove it, now put it back in and make sure it makes contact. now remove the panel that has the RAM/memory and remove and re insert them. power it up. if this does not work, that points to a hard ware failure. if there is any beeping noise made by the laptop, make a note of it (how many beeps, if they are short or long)
