LCD displays "download standby" and does not respond to any key entry
When I turned my MF6530 this am, it startsup but immediately displays "Download Standby" and will not respond to any keys. I turned it off and unplugged it for about 30 mins thinking it my need to reset, no change. What up?

Hello, you will need a service suport tool to rewrite the software on this machine. It is necesary to contact a CANON tech to perform this operation, if you try to do it yourself you might damage it more.
OK here is the deal: Either you can fix it easily by yourself or you can't. The manufacturer's suggestion is that you first turn power switch off. Then unplug the machine and wait for 5 minutes. Then plug it in and power it on. If that doesn't work try it a couple of more times and hopefully the machine will reset itself. There are variations of this method on line that incoude pressing a series of buttons in a certain order while the machine is powered off, but these are little more than electronic voodoo. If the manufacturer's recommendations fail it means that one of your circuit boards is gone and needs replacement. The good news is that if you saved your sales receipt and it's less than 3 years old, it's all covered under warranty. Happy Trails.
