Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Will not pump water into machine to start cycle

I have had a front load washer for about a year and a half. It has decided to post a F21 code about 5 minutes into the cycle. When opening up the washer, my clothes are still dry. It is not putting water into the washer to start the cycle. I have checked all the hoses. I have cleaned out the filter. I have even taken apart the pump to see if it was clogged. Nothing!!! It sounds like it is in in the draining cycle and won't signal that it is the start of the cycle, not the end. Help!! We are very frustrated and have a family of 5's laundry piling up in our house!!

is the solenoid right by the water inlet? Just want to make sure i am looking at the same thing you are talking about. No water is flowing it is just constantly wanting to drain water out. It won't let water come in. We will try that and let you know. thanks

No, it is not in the draining cycle. it is in the water inlet solenoid. check if there is power to the water inlet solenoid and check also if there is water going into the unit.

if there is power to the solenoid, then check the water inlet filter, it could be clogged also.

as you remove the hose to the water inlet valve, check the crisscross plastic at the center of the inlet valve, that is the inlet valve water filter. clean it if it is dirty or clogged.

if there is no power, check the wires that goes into it. make sure that it is connected properly to the valve

F21 stands for no water flowing to the unit. it has this water flow sensor. it senses if there is water flowing tio the unit. if there is no water after 5 minutes, the alarm will flash.

you need a volt meter to test if there is power to the solenoid. put the test leads to the terminals of the solenoid and while you turn it on, watch the meter if it would indicate a voltage reading.

if there is, then the problem is the solenoid. if there is none, then trace the controller.

    tnx again,

Error message SUD and F21 even after unclogging the filter

Push the pause/cancel button twice to clear your message. Then run through a rinse/spin cycle. Next try a normal load without any detergent. SUDS is usually from too much detergent. If this fails, checked the hose for kinks. Check connections and if all that fails, you will probably have to replace the pump. Good Luck!

Whirlpool duet steam washer error f21

The F21 code is a ' drain issue ' --- if you remove the bottom panel from the machine you will see the water pump right there,, just in front of the pump you will see a clean out area,, unscrew counter clockwise and remove the catch screen,,, it most likely has a few things in it ,, clean out - re-install and start the cycle. and the F21 code should be gone AND washer is back up and running.

Whirlpool Duet wfw9250ww will not drain F9E1 code is displayed. How do I toubleshoot this?

F9E1 or F21
  • When users observe the F9E1 or F21 error code in their Whirlpool washer's display, it indicates a drain pump system error. The drain hose should be checked to ensure that it has been installed properly and not having a blockage.

Never had any problems with my washer and it must be 5-8 years old. Today, I got: Error code F21. ????

he F21 error on this line of washers is the machines way of saying the water took to long to drain from the tub. This could be a problem with one of the washer partsincluding the drain pump itself, how the drain hose enters the stand pipe, or maybe even something is stuck somewhere in the drain system and is preventing the water from flowing properly. Clean out the sump pump , but remember, when you remove the screws holding it in place, whatever water thats still in the tub is gonna be in your lap, so be ready !!

My whirlpool duet front load washing machine stops in mid cycle

F21 = LONG DRAIN ERROR

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes the water valves turn off. After 4 minutes the “Sd” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F21 error code will be displayed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear.

Procedure:

1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7.
6. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
7. Replace the pump.

Alternative Procedure:

If the machine cannot be forced to its diagnostic mode then:

1. Disconnect the washer from the power supply and water supply.
2. Remove the top panel by taking out the three screws in the back of the washer. The pressure switch is right on top.
3. Remove the Molex connector from the water level switch / pressure switch.
Refer to the picture below.
4. Reconnect the power supply but not the water supply.
5. Power the machine. The machine will enter diagnostic mode.
6. Power off the machine.
7. Replace the water level switch / pressure switch.
8. Reconnect the water supply.
9. Power on the machine it will work without error

Whirlpool duet washer flashing sud then f21 ????????

The "SUD" error is in direct relationship the other error code. "F21" is a Long Drain error. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r1484065-f21_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

If something is preventing water from pumping through the drain pump, you will often get a "SUD" error as air is developed in the pump. Make sure you double check all the drain lines as well.

If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know before you rate the solution. I hope this helps you.
