Camera saying turn the power off and on again

I have the Sony Cyber-shot with the 7.2 mega pixels and it has this message pop up right after I turn it on. I have tried whacking it on my palm, taking the battery out and in again and holding the power button in for 15 seconds while off and then on again. Nothing has worked. Have you found the solution? Thank you!!

I go tmy Sony Cybershot DSC-W80 barely wet a few days ago. It's worked fine since, but today when I turned it on, the lense moves in and out really slow, like it's stuck on something. And then says to turn it off and on again. It doesn't get into anything but my purse. I have no idea what's wrong with it. Help me!!!

Hi

A couple solutions would be to either buy a defective camera online and make one good camera from the two if you can do that sort of thing yourself, or secondly have it repaired by somebody.

Don't bother trying to send the camera to Sony if it is out or warranty (though you can call them and verify what I'm about to say) because they will want $150+ to do the repair for you. Parts are not cheap to buy from them.

I know of one very affordable digital camera repair business... because I own it. The name is Darntoothysam, feel free to check us out, we are on that big auction website also (I don't plug their name for free), our seller ID is 'darntoothysam'. If you Google "darntoothysam" you will find us.

We have your repair listed as a package in our store for about $70. This covers a new lens, and return shipping of your camera! We even give a 45 day warranty on parts and labor. If you think you can use us then please check us out, even if you need to ask more questions then please feel free to contact me.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

I want a solution for my damaged camera Sony Cyber Shot DSC-W180 Digital Camera?

Try these procedures: http://www.fixya.com/support/r13011856-lens_error

Please bear in mind the possibility that the camera is damaged beyond economical repair. If that is the case then it will be less expensive to replace it than to repair it.

It means that a camera malfunction that you cannot reverse has occured.

You can try to press the reset button located inside the jack cover and then turn on the camera again.

Try to right click on the image files while they are read on the memory card or on the camera hard-wired to your computer. Click on copy then click on your desktop of your computer to paste them. They may just be creating short-cuts rather than placing the file onto your computer.

Hopefully, Diane, you had the same problem as me. I replaced my memory stick and the
message "no file in this folder" appeared but as soon as I TOOK MY FIRST PICTURE with the
new memory stick, the message disappeared! Good luck!
