Question about Sony KDS-R60XBR2 Television
I have a KDS-R60XBR2. Its over a year old. I recently replaced the lamp (SONY XL-5300) with one provided by the seller. The screen was getting dark and the warning on the screen said that I should replace the lamp. I did. After a few weeks the screen darkness is back and now I get an overall Green tint (bad on the faces). I tried changing the tint to red, but thats not much help, still has an overall green cast.
I read through the Sony book and it suggests that I replace the lamp, again. Thats a bit high priced as solutions go. I read here that possibly a connection is loose, So where do I get access into the location of the BB connector? I'm willing to open up the back of the set but don't want to compromise the front surface mirrors if I have to get near the optical path. Any suggestions on opening up the set?
There is an extended warranty on the optical block which is causing your problem. Contact Sony directly at 800-222-SONY to arrange to have a technician look at the TV and have the optical block replaced. Sony is covering parts and labor for this repair. For more information visit the Sony website

I also had a strong green cast with this set. The color was most pronounced in shadows. This can be fixed by going to servicemanuals.com and ordering the training manual (not the service manual). The last several pages of of the pdf describe how to use the remote to get the set into service mode. Go to the fourth category and then into the wb (white balance) area. I ended up adjusting the green BIAS (not green GAIN) from the initial setting of 128 to 45 (or so). A few other very minor adjustments by eye and the picture is better than new. Total cost about $15.
