My mp3 fell in water and now it will play everything and the menu is the same but the screen is blank so i can only use it by memory of how to get to all thw functions.
is there any way back?
If you're planning to fix it, you should do it ASAP because water damage can deteriorate. You're lucky that it works at all...
Basicaly it's a matter of drying the insides, and getting rid of any residue besides the H2O - salts, sugars, minerals, and other chemicals.
It can also be that the water short circuited the part that goes to the display, and you need to replace something in there.
You're lucky with this player, aren't you? ;]
Good luck

i have the same damn problem. On the menu screen, i don't see any words, letters and ect. I only see the icons. When I try playing the music on my opal m4208-GR, It only shows a black screen. So i don't know what too do. I tried reformatting and the firmware update. Im guessing you have too kill the battery for the whole day. Try playing the mp3 all day until the battery drains out. Hopefully it can regain memory after that.
If your ipod has a white screen reset your ipod. You can do this by pressing and holding the menu button and the center button in your ipod. Keep pressing both until the apple logo appears this should reset your ipod. If it does not work try again. This worked for mine good luck :)
the same thing happened to me, but i got it fix.NOTE:doing these steps it will delete all your content in your ipod, but you can put back thru itunes.
(DO THIS)first we need to do a test, hold MENU+cENTER then once the screen is blank press and hold MENU+REVERSE, then do a manuel test then memory then SDRAM then reset (MENU+CENTER).then again press and hold MENU+CENTER then quickly after press and hold CENTER+PLAY, it should say "ok to disconect". plug in your ipod to your computer and in itunes click restor and it will delete everything and it should be fix, then you can just reput your music and video. if this didn't fix it please contact me :)
