Question about Motorola Mobility V551
The silver casing on the front of my phone is broken and seemed to cause no problem with the normal functions. I tried to turn my phone on one day and it just quit working. The lights on the keypad will come on when I hold down the power, or disconnect button, but after that NOTHING!!!! I have insurance on the phone, but I need to get my numbers saved to my sim card!!!!! The phone will do nothing except light the keypad when turned on, the keypad lights will not come on when i press a number. No lights go off when I close the phone either. Please help. I don't want to lose all of my numbers and if I send it in and use my insurance they're gone for good!!! Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Charlene
Replace the "Flex Cable". Motorolla phones have a common problem with their "flex cable" going bad in their phones after a certain period of time. I had the same problem on my V551. Keypad would light on, sound coming intermittently after pressing keys but the screen would not light up. After replacing the flex cable, everything was back to normal. Go to your local flea market and look for a store that sells and repairs cell phones. Either ask them to replace it for you or just buy a used flex cable from them. I had mine repaired for $30 including the used part.

First try and check your battery and see if the voltage is still ok, if your voltage reads below 3v then its your battery, you need to rejuvenate it to its original voltage. Try a friends battery if its the same and see if your phone turns on. Good Luck

Did you store all you memories in the phone memory and not on the SIM? If you're not sure take the SIM out and put it in another phone. A lab that specializes in cell phones could probably rescue the memory, but it won't be covered by the insurance. You could ask them to limit the work to just rescuing the memory, and have the rest of the job done by sending it in on the insurance, but it might be that in order for them to get to the memory, they will have to repair it anyway. Can't you contact your provider and try to make sure that they rescue you memory as part of the repair? it's not that unreasonable... Good luck
