Re: cannot read disk

This comming from a guy that has softed 3 of his 4 xboxs...dont unless you absolutely have to. i did mine right and they worked prefectly well until microsoft desided to kick all who softmod off live. when they did so i kept getting an annoying black and green screen that prevents use of the xbox. the problem can be fixed by going full hard mod on the box. tis a litte more expensive, but worth it becuase i found that hard mod chips are just way more fun :)

Re: cannot read disk

Softmoding is not fool proof. I know people who have soft modded their xbox to play back up games as well as save games to the hard drive. Some times it is worse. Do this with caution! Try for more help & info

Re: cannot read disk

Very common. there's even a law suit against MS regarding this problem, and a few dedicated websites. The problem is with the DVD drive. MS uses a few different manufacturers for the optical drive, and while the Samsung one for an exmaple is considered safe, some of the rest are buggy as hell. If you call MS they will offer to fix it for 50 - 100 $, which is offcourse BS, since it's a clear defect on their part. A way around it, is to softmod your XBOX to be able to play the games from the hard drive. This is likely to prevent you from playing live though. Here are a couple pf dedicated sites: Good luck

Xbox won't read my disk

try a music cd, movie dvd, game disc.

which ones do not work?

if it will not play just one type or only 1 game i woudl check the game itself. if it will not play say games or dvds but will play cds then your laser needs calibreation.

here is a link to explain this.

doign this on the xbox will void warranty if there is any but also requires special tools for proper disassembly soyou don't damage the case.

Xbox not recognizing disc

please consult to xbox technician.there is nothing you can do because your laser or lens which read your disc probably either dirty or damages...if it is dirty, i suggest you to buy disc that has a tiny brush attach onto that disc...but if it damages,well............nothing u can do other than send it for service...

Reading disks

If the innerds on the PS3 are like the PS2 and XBOX then it's something where the DVD drive would need to be opened and the lens cleaned by hand the the rails that the DVD reader rides along would need to be cleaned and lubed.

My xbox won't launch certain games

You could try deleting more memory so it can run your games faster and play certain games that need a certain amount of memory to play

The 360 says unplayable disc

#1: The "eye" under the disk tray that reads the disk might be dirty or damaged.
#2: the lazer lenze might also b damaged.
#3:if none of these work then call up microsoft and send ur 360 in and get it fixed

I also had the same problem as u. All my disks were unplayable.

Open up the console and clean the CD Drive lens with rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Then put the console back together.

Disk read errors

Try to use cd rom lens head cleaner, the one with the small brush at the middle of the disk, never use cleaner using liquid solution. the best cleaning method is to open the cd and clean manually the laser lens using a cotton buds, the lens are so delicate so don't apply too much force. you can easily locate the lens in the cd case, it is a round bluish lens. cd rom cleaner works best when your unit is clean!! Huhh? Run it once a day, regularly, its like sweeping the floor of your house before you work for that day. Cd rom cleaning depends on playing back the No 1 and jumps to no 3 tracks, cleaning takes place on track 2 of the disc, you cannot clean if you cannot play the unit.. get that?
