I'm trying to install the latest k80 driver cd on my Windows XP system and am having trouble uninstalling the old drivers. I'm getting the error message" a problem occured initializing the device manager".Not even so much as the "change/remove" options appear on the old driver entries. I've tried to force an uninstall and it also has not done the trick. Many thanks for any help.

Try hp's website. If you don't see the windows 7 driver, try the windows vista driver.
Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "HP Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the drivers.
Don't use the CD. Download the latest drivers from the hp.com website above. It will ask you if you have the Windows 7 operating system. These are the latest drivers for your printer and should work just fine.
Your CD may not have had the correct drivers. According to the support page, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=61563& and pick your Win7 version, you should use the driver that Windows Update automatically finds. (If you have this set for automatically download and install updates, it will be easy.)
You should delete the drivers that you first installed, unplug the printer's USB cable from the computer and restart your computer. Then plug in the USB cable and use the Windows Update.
I hope this helps.

Instal only one printer driver on the PC it is physically connected to. Preferably the Windows 7 PC (Latest OS). Unshare the printer, remove drivers from other PC's., then reboot al PC,s and re-share the printer. The PC's sharing should allow the Windows 7 PC to use it's driver, although they may request a disc for basic information about the printer.
A full feature software and driver package for Windows 7 is not available for your product. However, the Windows 7 operating system installed on your computer contains a basic driver solution for your product.
With the basic driver, some of the advanced product features are not available. However, using the workaround procedures in this document, you can still print from a software program. You can also import and view images on a memory card, if your product has a memory card slot.
Use the following instructions to install the basic driver in Windows 7, and then review the workaround procedures to use the available features for your product.
