Stainless repair I did the absolute dumbest think I've ever done. Stainless fridge was getting what looked like rust pits and I used a abrasive to clean leaving a dull spot. Is there any hope for repair?

OHHH NOOO!!! , you can try to fix or at least lessen the blemish but you need to take y ou time doing so. being depending on the door freezer($650) and refrig($525) replacingthe door not a viable solution.. just like a piece of wood your refrig door has a "grain" to it, i would get some WD40, and VERY lightly at first and incresing the pressure as you go rub over teh spot with the grain of the metal(generally runs up and down on the KA refrig doors. the WD40 will act as a cutting oil and clean ,polish, and protect the metal as well the dull spot was probably caused be circular motion of previous cleaning, straight lines only up and down following the grain you should def reduce the blemish

How do I clean, what appears to be, rust marks on my stainless steel refrigerator

DO NOT use anything but a dedicated stainless steel cleaner. Some types of Windex have ammonia as one of the ingredients and you can imagine what that will do to your stainless steel finish.

What are the common causes of stainless steel rusting or corroding?

The most common cause of rusting or corroding is an Improper cleaning of your stainless steel. This could include not removing all the dirt, not thoroughly rinsing your stainless steel after washing, leaving some soap behind, and not thoroughly drying your stainless steel, allowing the iron in your water to react with the oxygen in the air leaving spots behind. Try avoiding the above in order to prolong your stainless steel life.

If my Kitchen Aid KSF26C6XYY00 door is in fact made of stainless steel, why do fridge magnets stick to it? Ohter people I know that have stainless steel fridges say that the magnets do not stick to t

Stainless steel is a term for a family of high chromium steels, some of which do in fact stain, although they do not rust as ordinary steel does.

The more expensive 'austenitic' stainless is non-magnetic, but harder to work into product shapes. 'Martensitic' stainless is a little more prone to staining and corrosion, but easier to work with, and is magnetic. Then 'ferritic' stainless is even cheaper, but less corrosion proof, and is also magnetic.

So yes, many stainless steels are magnetic, and if the manufacturer has not used the very most corrosion proof but expensive grade, then you will see it in that way. I would not see much reason for a fridge door to be made from austenitic stainless.

Looks like the stainless steel is rusted.how do you fix that.

Stainless steel should not rust, and if it corrodes it does not show the normal red rust colour. Hopefully your surface is not steel plated to represent stainless steel. If it is stainless steel it would be something that has stained it and this can be removed with any quality commercial mild abrasive cleaned and Scotchbrite or a patent soft fine polishing block available at most large hardware od department stores.

2 issues...Brake tube rusted and random cylinder misfire

1. What is the OEM diameter of the tubing? I plan to use plain steel, not stainless. If they use salt on the roads stainless is better, TUBING IS 3/16"
2. Once I get the tube bent, would it hurt anything to paint them with rust bullet? No for mild steel, stainless won't rust though, no paint req'ed
3. So I know what flaring tool to get, what kind of flares are on the ends of the tube? U will need a tool that does double flares, around $60 US, if u have ever used a double flare tool read the instructions carefully.
As far as OD of line, take the old to the parts store and match it, but I think it is 3/16"

The engine issue, best u have a trouble code test run and go from there, any Kragen or Autozone will do it for free, if nothing shows clean the inside of the MAF sensor with CRC brand MAF cleaner, water could not get in the line because there is over 40 pounds of pressure, u would see allot of gas on the ground under the truck.

PLEASE RATE THIS INFO.

Rust stains appeared all over the outside of the stainless steel front of over, air outlet and splash back. What would have caused this and how can we fix this problem?

If I understand your question, your stainless steel surfaces have rusted. Correct?
Contrary to popular belief, stainless steel CAN rust under the right circumstances.

I won't go into what may have caused this problem, but I will hopefully help you solve it and prevent future rusting.

Usually it is only surface rust and not deep pitting of the steel.
Surface rust can usually be removed with a product like Soft Scrub cleanser or liquid Meguiar's Car Cleaner Wax.

Apply a small amount of either product to a clean cloth and rub over the rust until it is removed.
Wait until the product dries and buff with a clean cloth.
If you have a brushed stainless steel surface, you will want to rub in the same direction of the "grain".

One benefit of the wax is that it will protect the surface from future rusting.
If the rust cannot be removed in this manner, a more aggressive approach is required. Do NOT use the following procedure if you have a smooth stainless steel surface, only if you have the brushed surface..

Use a non-metallic scuff pad, such as a 3M Green Scouring Pad and rub in the direction of the brushed stainless steel grain.
This process should remove all surface rust and even some minor scratches. You can use the pad dry or better yet, with a liquid wax as a lubricant.

Never use steel wool!
It will only leave small particles of steel imbedded in the surface. The condition will look worse when the particles themselves rust!

I cannot be held responsible for any damages that may occur from the above procedure. But, it has worked fine for me whenever I have implimented it on dozens of similar surfaces.

Good Luck!
