No OSD/MENU does not dispay Connected component. It was working fine for two years prior to this issue.

    Thanks

When I turn the tv on, at first I get like 4 vertical blue bars, then when the tv actually comes on, as dbartley states, the picture is very dark, the motion is very blurry or slurred, and if you switch to the next channel, its very slow to show the picture. It doesn't matter how the tv is hooked up. 2 months ago, I had cable, via coax. That did it. Also, my xbox and ps2 did it via av jacks. Now I have satellite through hdmi cable, and it also does it. Have already done the factory reset. Any solutions?

More information is required. Your backlight is lit (screen not dark) but I need to know what you have connected to the TV (your sources) and how they are connected. Does the menu/OSD (on screen display) work?

Does the OSD/Menu on the TV itself display? How is the cable box connected to the TV? Is it connected composite, component or HDMI?

I would try a factory reset before anything else. Be aware that in doing this you will lose any saved settings on the TV. To perform a factory reset, turn the TV on, hold the up button on the remote control down and, while holding the up button down on the remote control, press the power button on the TV. When you release both buttons, the tv should power down, and then power up and ask you what language you want. If this does not fix the problem, you will likely have to have a technician look at the set. I would also check all of the other inputs and see if any of them work. But, with no TV OSD, it is probably in the TV and not an easy fix, that is if the factory reset does not work. Good Luck!

The screen has colored vertical lines and becomes to a dark black band about 6 inches of width. The tv is exactly two years old by today.

My 3-year old 52-inch Toshiba flat panel TV (Model # 52RV53U, Serial # AM409000295) developed a display problem (purchased Aug. 2008, manufactured July 2008). Vertical multicolored lines appeared on the screen just left of center. The band of thin vertical bars is 5.5 inches wide. The lines are about 1/16-inch wide. They are stationary, always exactly in same place. They over-ride any other picture on the screen (no transparency). They are there all time even with no video inputs to the TV after the unit is turned on. See picture #1. The TV works well in every other respect, but, obviously, it is annoying to watch the picture with the color band blocking about 1/6 of the picture.

I already swapped out the TCON board with no improvement and replugged the TCON board cables with no improvement.

Most likely it is the flat panel tab bond failure (panel made by Samsung). Further solution updates will be on my Facebook page.

Wide vertical bands of color through the viewing area. The sound is fine

One of your "X" buffer boards is defective. In Panasonic plasma tv's they are located at the bootom of the set and connect directly to the plasma diplay panel via a thin ribbon cable. The board you want to replace will be directly in line with the discolored vertival line in the picture. The part number is on the circuit board and usualy starts with "tnp..." or "txp..."

I just tried re-setting the digital tuner, which for the JVC LT-37x688 is as simple as powering the TV on, and holding the chanel down and volume down buttons simultaneously for about 3-5 seconds. The screen will go to black, and the TV will power off. Turn it back on, and you get the JVC logo again as everything re-sets. This solved my problem with vertical colored bar lines vice a picture, and sound.

If you still have the TV, the remote has to be re-set. Hold the Enter button down approximately 10-seconds. It should re-set itself.

Dark vertical lines on tv screen

If under warranty then of course use that.
This is a display problem. One solution someone knowledgeable in electronics can try.
This problem can be caused by a bad connection fitting of the flat cables on LCD controller board. Dis-connect the flat cables from the LCD controller(T-CON) and carefully reconnect them. Try the unit before reassembling the back cover. You may have to disconnect/reconnect several times to show improvements if this is the problem.
