To open the door, raise the oven top and use a a flat head screwdriver to open the lock manually.
The door will still lock itself when you close it, so this is only usefull to get your food out.

Oven door on lock

is the light oven on??? can you see the switch/button that the door would hit against to turn light off?? if so depress button so the lifht goes off, and start a clean cycle. This should make the lock mechanism engage fully. then cancel cycle and should fully disengage lock/latch (you need to depress light switch to trick unit into thinkin the door is closed)

OVEN DOOR LATCH BLOCKS THE OVEN DOOR FROM CLOSING ALL THE WAY. I CANNOT GET THE DOOR LATCH TO RETRACT.

Hi

There could be couple things. First, try pushing the door closed as you turn the handle. The latch may have dropped into the strike hole completely, binding the latch. Or you may try lifting the door as you try and open it. Friction is the one thing that most often happens causing a latch not to retract.
Another possibility is that the latch may have become detached from the knob set. If this is the case, you will have to remove the lock from the door, and from there you can open the door with a flat blade screwdriver. I recommend replacing the latch as well. If you remove the lock from the inside of the door, using a flat blade screwdriver you can pull the little 'T' that sticks out from the latch on the inside of the hole. This pulls the latch back away from the strike, allowing you to open the door.

There are different configurations of latches, and they activate like way. You could run into a long latch the lock runs through. You can use a large flat blade to activate that. If you have the type with the half moon, use the outside of the lock body, stick it into the half moon, and turn the whole thing to retract the latch.

Please get back to us if you have further query or else please accept the solution.

The lock will not release after cleaning

This is GE's trouble shooting advise:

Range - Oven Door Won't Unlock After Self Clean

The Oven Door has been Locked Accidentally:

  • If no food or utensils are in oven, put it into a short self-clean cycle (1-2 hours).

  • If there is food in the oven, let the oven cool to room temperature and try to unlatch the door.

  • With electronic ranges there is a small chance that turning the circuit breaker off for a few minutes and turning it back on can release the door. latch to the "off"

  • Note: Do not force the latch at anytime!

Door Will Not Unlock After Cleaning:

On models with mechanical latches:
  • Once the oven is cool after a self-clean cycle (approximately 30-90 minutes), slide the latch over to the left.(Some older models have a latch release button that must be pushed in while sliding the latch over.)
Note: Some models with oven Set and Temperature knobs must have those knobs set in the Clean position before the latch can be moved to the left. If your door won't unlock, try turning those knobs back to Clean, then slide the latch over.

If the above suggestions do not work try the following to unlock your door:
  1. Disconnect power to range for 30 seconds.
  2. Reconnect power and see if door will unlatch.
  3. If door does not unlatch, and you do have food in the oven, wait for oven to cool completely and try again. If it still will not open you will need service.
  4. If door does not unlatch, and you do not have food in the oven, set the oven up to clean for 1-2 hours.
  5. Wait approximately 30 minutes and try to unlock the door.
  6. If the door unlocks, the control has reset itself and there should not be any other problems.
  7. If the door will not unlock or if you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737 or schedule a service appointment on-line.
Note: Under no circumstances should you ever force the door or latch open.

E1 F5 Error on Whirlpool Accubake Oven

The lock latch is located directly in the center upper portion of the door. It is a hook shaped latch that lock by turning downward. This lock gets stuck in this position which causes the e1 f5 error code. Locate the latch through the vent holes in the upper front of the oven door. Insert flat headed srew driver into vent hole and gently push latch up to a horizontal position & simply open door. Once unlocked, push cancel on the control panel. This will clear the error code and resolve the issue.

Posted by avatarBetty Emadi on Aug 22, 2006 * + Add a Comment * Suggest a Solution 1. Add a Comment 2. * By avatarGuest Over a year ago * My Amana convection plus oven has started beeping and showing an F1 error. I have to turn off the range power to make it stop. This happened just after the warranty went off, earlier this year, and the repair place ordered a new circuit panel. By chance, I turned the power back on before they came to replace the panel, it had 'self corrected. It was fine for several months, now is beeping again. Anyone have a fix? Thanks. 3. Solutions (1) F1 code and continuous beeping. This is a common problem with that type of Amana control. The control panel has a design problem I think, and it gets dirty and worn over time. I have replaced mine once, and it happened again less than 2 years later. I took the control panel out, and inspected it. I found a web solution, that said to shim the control panel out away from the housing slightly because it rubs on the metal around the opening and damages the control board contacts. I could see little scratch marks on the plastic skin around the edge of the button area, so that made sense. I tried that, and it still did not work.....panel was still beeping. Mine seemed to be the timer control that was going on and off, and then eventually an F1 error. So, I took the panel out again, and actually peeled the control surface off of the control board. No going back now, I thought. I got it off....it is really sticky.......and looked at the control panel itself . It looked fine, but there was a lot of gunk and wear marks around the edge of the plastic button area. I cleaned it up with alcohol swabs, and checked to make sure none of the printed circuit paths had any wear or damage, and then put the cover back on the board. It was still sticky enough to go back on, and stay in place. I reinstalled it, and "bingo" no more problem. It has been fine for 3 months now. Yahooo! The pic below is just an example pic from the internet. My model is slighty different, but the panel looks basically the same.
