Blank screen at any time

I purchased a V171 (motorola) from SunCom in April, 2006. Now the phone is malfunctioning, when you power it up sometimes the display comes up fine then it may stay there all day or it may be back to a blank screen the next time you go to use it at no certain time period or span.
