Tip

"Aero features are'nt running in window's 7"

Solution: Check that your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements for running Aero:

1-gigahertz (GHz) 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

1 gigabyte (GB) of random access memory (RAM)

128-megabyte (MB) graphics card

Aero also requires a DirectX 9 class graphics processor that supports a Windows Display Driver Model Driver, Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware, and 32 bits per pixel.

For best results, you might also want to follow these graphics processor recommendations:

64 MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor with a resolution that is less than 1,310,720 pixels (for example, a 17–inch flat panel LCD monitor that has a 1280 × 1024 resolution)

128 MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor with a resolution from 1,310,720 to 2,304,000 pixels (for example, a 21.1–inch flat panel LCD monitor that has up to a 1600 × 1200 resolution)

256 MB of graphics memory to support a single monitor with a resolution greater than 2,304,000 pixels (for example, a 30–inch wide-screen flat panel LCD monitor that has up to a 2560 × 1600 resolution)

To turn on window frame transparency, the color scheme must first be set to Windows Aero.

1.Open Personalization by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Personalization.

2.Click Window Color and Appearance.

3.Select the Enable transparency check box.

To change the color scheme to Windows Aero

1.Open Appearance Settings by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Window Color and Appearance. If the Appearance Settings dialog box is not displayed, at the bottom of the page, click Open classic appearance properties.

2.In the Color scheme list, click Windows Aero, and then click OK.

Check that your theme is an aero theme and not a normal theme. Themes are available in normal and aero and can be confusing. Set your theme as an aero theme and you should get the aero window working.

These steps will help us to have AERO running.

HP laptop monitor for dv7-1170us does not work

It sounds like your flat vga cable has pulled loose inside the panel. Just take the lid apart on your screen assembly and press that flat ribbon cable back in and tape it in place.

Screen icons and picture too big

What is the OS??

Right click on the desktop and click on "Properties", "seettings" and set screen resolution to at least 1024 X 768 for LCD monitor or 800 X 600 for CRT monitors.

If they are set to those then there may be a prob with video driver.

Need more in depth explaination.

Will not display a picture

It would appear that some component has given out the ghost. The earlier symptoms were giving you warning that something was failing. If the monitor fails to display anything, even after increasing the brightness to the max, it's probable that it needs servicing, or replacing it altogether.
You don't specify how old your monitor is, nor whether it's a CRT or LCD, but in both cases, they're built to last several years, except for when they come with faulty components from manufacturing.
Good luck!

Hi im josh in cebu phils. may i help? Friend your problem focusses on to hardware. first try to check your video card clean or change then after try to use the monitor.if it still appears the same. 2nd try to use your monitor in other pc.if still appears. the problem is your monitor. if you knew somebody around that could fix tv or appliances let him see your monitor.there maybe one of the capacitor in the monitor that is damage or burn out.let him change it. so that it will work again in condition. good luck.

PC or monitor, signal problems

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.
