Do not have original remote, there is no universal remote that will work, can not manually change channel on TV to add a component, like tv/vcr input ot Aux..etc I looked up the Funai Corp and it confirms that this TV needs the original remote. I have tried to hook it up thru the satellite box but still wont play a component.

  • reeze Oct 21, 2008

No a/v button on the TV. There are (3) jacks, yellow for video, white and red for audio. this is to add the DVD player but thats all, plug (3) to TV and other end (3) to DVD

  • reeze Oct 21, 2008

The TV used to work with a Philips universal remote but it stopped working also. I will try the RCA remote but I might as well just buy the original from newremote.com. Its a Emerson remote #NE116UD. I have already bought teo other universals.

    Thank you for your help

Where is the sensor and how do I fix it?? If the TV is hooked to the sattelite box shouldnt the sattelite remote control the TV? (which it doesn't)

    Thanks

  • reeze Oct 22, 2008

Sorry for the confusion. I can change channels thru the satellite box with the satelitte remote. The sattelite remote will not turn the TV on/off or allow me to add DVD player. I am pretty sure that I need to buy an original remote control so I can have that "input" button which will allow me to toggle between TV and DVD.

    thanks for all your help

if the other remote just quit working then you might have a dirty IR sensor on the tv or the remote sensor needs to be replaced on the tv

  • jason Oct 22, 2008

the satellite remote will only control the sattelite channels , I thought you were trying to change the tv's video source and channels

the tv remote sensor will be on the front of the tv , usually it has a circled tinted plastic over it , but it could be dirty from the inside of the tv.

try the remote close up as well to determine if the IR sensor works or not

you can also use a flashlight to look thru the plasic that is in front of the tv for the IR sensor to see if it is dirty in there

I have a sansui flat with build in DVD but don't have a remote the DVD will load but when push play it says operation not possible with disk what is this do I just need a univ.remote

First, check which input you have the TV set on. There may be an Input button on the side of the TV. (On the SLEDVD197, the button just below the DVD Eject button.) Just press Input and use the Channel Up/Down arrows to navigate the menu to change to the DVD. Press Input again to Enter the selected option.

With the TV in DVD mode, try pressing Play again. If you still have the error, check the region code for the disc. The "Operation not permitted" messages is usually that something on the disc is locked. Frequently, it's the result of using a different region code disc than the DVD player knows how to interpret. Try a different DVD.

If your TV doesn't have the Input button on the TV, you absolutely need a universal remote. However, you will want one that can match the TV/DVD button, the Input/Select button and the Menu button. Usually this requires a higher end remote; you also need a remote that was programmed at least 6 months after Sansui released the TV. If you do have the Input button on the TV, a universal remote may make using the TV easier.

I hope this helps.

Tip

Acessing Menu with universal remote

We used a One4All model URC3021BOO remote. We programmed BOTH the TV function and the DVD/vcr button with code 0807.  To access the menu PRESS TV then MENU button then DVD/VCR button will allow you to change menu functions using left and right and select buttons. *TV button will access Menu screen BUT NO menu functions. * DVD/VCR button will NOT access menu screen but WILL control menu functions if menu is already displayed. May work with other sharp products, or other universal remotes? These original (RRMCG1330PESA) remotes run 38.00+ to buy new so try this FIRST!

Perhaps your dvd player output is set for channel 3 so you have to select that channel for the dvd player to play on your tv. Some older analog tvs have a separate input for dvd on the back or front. In that case you have to select that setting from the tv menu

I accidenltly gave a universal remote

Turn on the component, you want to program, press and hold the component key you need to change (VCR, DVD, TV, etc.) then press and hold the on.off button, wait until the light stays on, and release both buttons. Press the on.off button (wait 4 seconds between) until your component turns off. Then press the stop button to save the code.

Hope that helps

I have this same TV. The DVD player is either hooked up to the video or s-video input. Go to the Menu (either through the remote or from the front of the TV) and select the Setup option. Go to the part where it asks if you want to use a DVD player. Select yes. Then select Video Input. Exit the Setup. When you hit the DVD button, it will switch to the Video input. The second step is to go into the Menu and select Channel, then go to Video Input Source. From there, select which input you are using for your DVD player, the S-Video or the standard Video (yellow composite cable).

Then the only way to reach your tv is through coaxial antenna port. So you can buy an rf modulator ( very cheap) and connect your red yellow and white cables (rca cables from a dvd, game console etc) to the modulator then connect the modulator to your antenna with a coax cable. This worked for me.
