Speedstream 4100 does not work with router

I have AT&T dsl using a speedstream 4100 modem with my windows XP toshiba alptop computer. The dsl connetion works fine but when I try to put in the netgearWGT624 modem inline the connection won't work. I was tiold the password stuff is located in the speedstream modem. How do I get the router to work with this speedstream 4100 using At&T dsl?

you can't.
when the item name as modem/router. it means the main function is modem with added router function.
you can't connect 2 router/modem together. both need access to the internet and IPS for it function correctly.
however, you can connect 1 modem and one router.
