Are you still using alkaline batteries (or worse yet "Super Heavy Duty")? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may have reached their shelf life, and though brand new may even have problems just powering startup of the camera.

Digital cameras for the most part should be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Retailers sell these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Whenever I turn it on, it automatically turns itself off. The lens does not always withdraw. It is not the batteries, as this is the third set of new batteries I have tried in it.

The problem is in the system control board, either there is a fault in the systems board or it has detected an issue with the camera lens, it will require a camera technician to properly troubleshoot the issue.

There is a capacitor dump that you can try.

Remove the batteries, wait 5-10 minutes.
With the batteries out, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds or so.
Put the batteries back in and your camera will start over (re-boot). You will know if it worked if you have to reset the date. But if that lens is really stuck you may be out of luck. The cost to repair it will exceed the cost of a new camera.

When i turn on my Kodak EasyShare C913 Digital Camera it makes a werid sound and turns itself off. whats making it do that? and how can i fix it?

It is probably your rechargeable batteries are not holding their charge and therefore the camera is not receiving enough power to start. The whirring would be the camera lense attempting to open. When it can't get enough power it will automatically shut off.

As a first step try removing the batteries and replacing them with completely new ones. Make sure they are fully charged.

If this doesn't sort the problem out it may be something more serious which would probably require a technician to look at it.

Open battery door and shut it again, without removing the batteries. If this doesn't help to reset, change the batteries. Make sure they're lithium. If this still doesn't help, I'm out of ideas. Sorry!

What type of batteries are you using? A lot of times in Kodak cameras, regular alkaline batteries won't work. I would suggest using lithium batteries like the energizer e2 ones. They're a little more expensive, but they should solve your problem.

Olympus FE-115 : wont turn on..turns iself off!!!

I had the same problem and i called up cutomer support on 1300 659 678 (Australia) and they said that the problem may lie in your batteries. It was advised that you use Lithium batteries, and to avoid use of Alkaline, since they dont have the required power to operate the camera which is why it turns off right away. As to what type of rechageable batterires to use i am not sure, i think it was Nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries. Hope this solves your problem.
