Kelly,

have you checked your power schemes?

Click start, control panel, and double click on power options.

On the power schemes tab there is a setting to turn off the monitor after X minutes.

Try increasing this or setting to never.

Hope this helps

Regards

Nick

How can i get my toshiba satellite not to go into standby while watching movies

To keep your laptop from going into standby mode you want to change the power settings. To do that, click on the start button/windows logo to open the start menu. Then click on control panel, or if you do not see it start typing control panel. Then go to power settings. You then need to change the advanced power settings for your battery options. Change the power settings so that it does not standby at all. Another thing you can do is plug the power cable in and that way it also will not enter standby mode.

Thanks for using FixYa!

My pc monitor is showing a box say dmps suspend status

The DPMS standard (Display Power Management Signaling) was developed to extend the useful life of PC monitors as well as to conserve the relatively high amount of energy used by monitors when not required.

In brief terms it works as follows.

The DPMS compliant video controller and the DPMS compliant monitor use the Horizontal sync and Vertical sync signals to control the power mode of the monitor. Because there are 2 signal lines, it allows 4 modes of operation. Normal, Standby, Suspend and Off.

Go to your power management source located in the control panel and make the needed adjustments.

When I turn on computer, the monitor say going to dpm mode. any help?

DPMS (Display Power Management Signaling) is a standard developed to save energy and maximize the useful life of computer displays. By switching the horizontal and vertical sync lines on or off, a DPMS compliant video card provides the capability to place the monitor into one of four modes (Normal, Standby, Suspend, Off).
Each mode puts the display into a different powered state from fully powered up, to the Off mode. In the Off mode, only a small auxilliary circuit is running which monitors the horizontal and vertical signals to wake up the monitor.

I have a Dell 2400 it starts up fine but after about ten minutes the light turns from green to yellow and I lose any picture it reminds me of a sleep or hibernation mode but I know it does not have that....

Is this light on the computer, or on the monitor?

I suspect that it happens when you try to watch a movie or listen to music - something that doesn't involve typing on the keyboard or using the mouse? If so, then your computer goes to suspend mode. You have to open the Control Panel, Power settings, and select an "Always on" power scheme, and additionally change the "monitor off" option to Never. Then click "Apply", close the window and you should be fine.

SP2208wfp monitor goes into sleep during videos

Assuming you are using Win-XP, go into control panel, Appearance and Themes and Choose a screensaver. There should be an option below the screensaver choice to adjust Power Saver settings.

I want to watch a movie on my pc but it goes into sleep mode 20 minutes into the movie. How can i change the settings. It displays (auto input interjection) how can i change it?

Turn off your screensaver from your desktop settings, and modify your power control settings from within control panel. Alternately, you can make a conscious effort to move the mouse every 19-1/2 minutes. I think I would change the settings.

If you find my suggestions to be helpful, please share with us some details so that others may benefit from knowing the whole story. Thank you!

Dell e228wfp flat panel. periodically goes blank. when i power off the on promp " 1. Auto detect ( Analog signal )" is up . . . just for a moment then screen goes blank.

It's heat related and possibly a backlight issue - mine only does it when the monitor has been powered on for about 2 hours. If I turn it off for an hour, I can get another 2-hour stretch out of it. Happens in self-test mode, so that's the cruncher. It's taken 2 days and many laborious hours on the phone, but Dell is sending me a replacement monitor tomorrow. There are more people with the problem here: http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19245356.aspx. Hope you get yours replaced too...

Stuck on standby

Unit is in protect mode there are a few problems that can trigger protect mode the most common is blown channel (shorted outputs). Sometimes one of the 15v regulators may go bad causing imbalance of supplys triggering protect mode. Also sometimes a bad solder connection could cause unit to go into protect also.
