I know the problem has already been solved, but just incase anyone else encounters this problem:

There should be a little switch on the bottom of your gigabeat. switch it to the opposite side and the gigabeat should turn off. Leave it off for a few seconds, then switch it back and turn your Gigabeat back on. This should work.

My MuVo2FM MP3 player is frozen . With the menu buttons pressed and battery reinstalled it just allows to scroll up to recovery mode . But later even if you select erase or format etc nothing happens. When connected to the computer through the USB the cmputer doesn't even recognise the hardware of the MP3 player. Please help me.

there is a reset button on the bottom of the unit. stick a paperclip inside the hole and it will shut down, then just start it back up as usual as mine did the same exact thing, Dell DJ Pocket

They all never worked for me. so here is my solution:

Disconnect the player from the computer if it is connected.

Please copy and paste the following link into your web browser address bar, and then click Go or hit your Enter key.

When prompted, choose the option to Save the file to your Desktop.http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exeOnce you have downloaded the file, please follow these instructions.

1)Double click on My Computer so that you can see it on your screen.

2) Turn the player off.

3) On the top of the player is a Hold switch, move it to the right (toward the headphone jack) so you see Orange.

4) On the left hand side of the player is a Record button, press and hold it while connecting the player to the computer. Continue holding the Record button until you see a new icon under My Computer called 16MB FORMAT. Once you see that icon you may release the Record button.

5) Double click the file you downloaded earlier and run it. Follow all of the on-screen instructions, and when you get to the prompt where it asks you whether you would like to Format it, choose Yes. Once it is done, click Finish.

6) Disconnect the player and look at the screen. Several things will be displayed, and when you see Key Lock, System Shutdown, move the Hold switch on the top back to the left.

7) Turn the player on and watch the screen. If you see a Refresh Database Fail error, you will need to follow steps 1-7 again until you do not get the error. If it does not work the first time, it could take up to 3 times for it to work.

Well, the solution the tech support gave to me.

Hope this works

Interesting solutions.

My machine had frozen up completely -- the blue ring was lit and the screen was glowing bright black, but beyond that, nothing.

I had held the power button for about five seconds, the time it would normally take to shut down, and got no response.

So, I unscrewed the back, pulled the battery out and put it back together. Machine working perfectly.

The first piece of advice is the EXACT thing to do. Make sure it is a SLOW 10 count. Don't fool yourself by ruching it. I got to 8, and it turned off and then after a minute off, turned right back on. Perfectly.

The screen was frozen with colored streaks across it, and wouldn't turn off. This advice fixed it, straightaway.

Ahh, this just happned to me! I was thinking about leaving it on and letting it die but I just finished from a full recharge yesterday and it'd probably be on for like 2 days staight. I was holding down the power botton every now and then for like 5 seconds but obviously it wasn't long enough. But yeah, I don't think you'd have to hold it down for any longer than 1 minute(if you do, your Sansa must relly have problems!). It took me like 15 seconds or so.

I had the same problem, and I don't know if this will work for you or not, but what I did was this: Since none of the buttons would work, not even the Power button, I let it run out of battery. Then I let it set for a day and then plugged it into my computer. At first, it wouldn't show the docked thing or anything except for the battery icon. Frustrated, I unplugged it and then plugged it in again. Then it said Docked at the top and showed the docked icon-thingy like normal. But before the docked thing came up, it said it was Rebuilding Music Library. I have no idea what this means. But I hope it doesn't happen again.
