Question about Princeton Digital LCD17 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

White screen covers desktop

Monitor worked fine for several months. Moved to a new computer and worked for about 2 months then one morning upon reboot the primary screen is covered by a white screen. Powering the monitor off and then on, you can see the proper desktop for a split second before the screen goes white. I checked other monitors (LCD and CRT) on the system without problems. Moving the Princeton to another computer results in the same problem. I switched power cable to power converter and the video cable without sucess. Could the power converter failing cause this? How do I determine it is the power converter. It is supposed to be 12v @ 4.0A according to the box.

My HP 2711 monitor went white. I plugged in another monitor and everything works fine on my computer. Ive only had this monitor and computer for 2 months so it should be covered under warranty. i guess the...

Hi, yes this monitor should be covered by a warranty, my advise is to return it to the vendor and ask for a replacement.
These things die like files as the saying goes. But HP are real good with warranty usually simply make contact with HP and ask them what to do, and be guided by them if the vendor isn't helpful.

LG LCD Monitor won't exit Power Saving Mode

Does your desktop/PC display show anything before the monitor goes into power save mode? If nothing comes up, its possible that you have a loose VGA connection or that your video card/motherboard are defective in some ways. Try using a different monitor.

If the other monitor works fine with your computer, try changing/lowering the screen resolution. If in XP right-click on the desktop and go to Properties, and select the tab for display settings and adjust the resolution. If in Vista/Win7, right-click the desktop and select Screen Resolution/Display Settings and adjust it there. Then check and see if your LG monitor works on it.

If the other monitor also doesn't show any display, most likely the problem is either with your video cable or your PCs video card/motherboard, not the monitor.

Hope that helps. Good luck

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 931c monitor (2.5 yrs old). Sporadically during the last month, I'd lose the screen image and get vertical stripes on the display. I'd turn the monitor power button off and on...

jcacolice, Most likely your 931c will need work done on it. When strange things start to occur with any LCD CCFL backlit display I would suspect the "switch-mode-power-supply" first thing!!! If unit is out of warranty you or someone will need to inspect and troubleshoot it. A good place to start will be to see some DIY videos on YOUTUBE. Try search of "lcd monitor disassembly" and "lcd monitor repair" and learn all you can about the TOP CAUSES of monitor failure. Then visit (FYI) and for more info. Explore ALL your options before you do anything. Then get back to us here at fixya if you still need some asssistance. Read some of my other responses in my fixya profile and other those of other tech's on fixya.

Sylvania (proview) cl2072b flat panel monitor

Well the first and second paragraphs make me say the Inverter/power board must be replaced.

A white display typically means either your display cable (in your monitor) is loose or logic board is dead.

Either one of these things typically mean take it in for an estimate to repair, and if it's too much, buy a new one.
With your luck I think I might switch to big cheap CRT.

Lacie 19" Electron Blue - Black screen with a brilliant white line across

I have 2 of these monitors and have this problem. I was so frustrated turning the monitor off and on until the white line disappeared that one day, I punched the screen. And it worked! So now whenever this happens (about once every other day) I use my palm and smack the lower left corner of the monitor until the white line disappears. I like the color on these screens so I don't want to replace them until I have to. I will NOT buy another Lacie though.
