Hi, follow the steps below. Don't change any of your settings since they
already work, but when you get to step 7 this is where you check
whether or not you want to remove the emails from the sever.
Open Outlook 2003 then:
Click Tools ' E-mail Accounts.
Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.
Select POP3, then click Next.
Enter the following information:
Your Name: Type your name as you'd like it to appear when you send an email message.
E-mail Address: Type your Yahoo! Mail Plus email address (for example, email@example.com).
Incoming mail server (POP3): Type pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Type smtp.mail.yahoo.com
User Name: Type your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").
Password: Type your Yahoo! password.
Check the Remember password checkbox if you don't want Outlook to prompt you for your password each time you check your mail.
Do notcheck the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) checkbox.
Click the More Settings button. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
Select the Outgoing Server tab:
Check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
Make sure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
Select the Advanced tab:
Under "Incoming server (POP3)," check the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox. The number in the "Incoming server (POP3)" field usually changes automatically from 110 to 995. If it doesn't, type 995.
In the Outgoing server (SMTP) field, type 465. Under it, check the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox.
If you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your computer, check the Leave a copy of messages on the server
checkbox. If you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo!
server once Outlook has downloaded them onto your computer, leave the
Note: After your messages are deleted from the server, we cannot retrieve them.
Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
open firefox in safe mode by holding down shift and clicking on firefox as usual, now click on continue to open in safe mode...now try and login into your yahoo mail and see if it works. if it does u need to check for any updates for any recent addons u might have installed.
I have determined that the problem is actually 18.104.22.168, which seems to be a login server at yahoo. I say this because you can actually browse the Yahoo website, and go to new.mail.yahoo.com without any problems. However, trying to connect to mail.yahoo.com or login.yahoo.com returns the above error.
Are you using updated version of yahoo mail? with my experience i have learned that its better to stick with yahoo classic mail.
i did face the same problem before when i was using updated version. After that i switched to yahoo classic mail. Try it out and it would work.
Don't know exactly but try to switch to new yahoo mail.
btw, what browser you're using?
and did you tried to clear browsing history WITH clearing the cookies. that helps much in certain and/or wierd situations.
If your using the BETA version and your having problems flick back to the old style. If your on dialup yahoo is very slow but then again if your on broadband you will experience no problems. Its as fast as yahoo can be!. Yahoo have a page for assistance just click on the support and help pages http://www.yahoo.com.....they're pretty helpful mind you, did you know yahoo is free email. Well ours are way down here in New Zealand.
